Nice going there!

Here's what the genius mayor of the "Big Easy" had to say when he was told to use school buses to evacuate his constituents:

"I need 500 buses, man," he told WWL. "One of the briefings we had they were talking about getting, you know, public school bus drivers to come down here and bus people out of here."

Nagin described his response:

"I'm like - you've got to be kidding me. This is a natural disaster. Get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans."

While Nagin was waiting for his Greyhound fleet, Katrina's floodwaters swamped his school buses, rendering them unusable.

  1. I guess, never having gone to school he was unfamiliar with them. Greyhound buses were more up his alley. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
    Bad joke, I know.

  2. Thanks Litvak for reinforcing the stereotypes against Jews.

Nagin is a bum, he's got no political streetsmarts (whatever that means) and should resign. The problem is that the city is sooo corrupt that his replacement would do no better.

  3. Litvak,
    Read bud:
From the standpoint of the Torah there can be no distinction between one human being and another on the basis of race or color. Any discrimination shown to another human being on account of the color of his or her skin constitutes loathsome barbarity. It must be conceded that the Torah recognizes a distinction between Jew and a non-Jew. This distinction, however, is not based upon race, origin, or color, but rather upon k'dushah, the holiness endowed by having been given and having accepted the Torah. Furthermore, the distinction between Jew and non-Jew does not involve any concept of inferiority but is based primarily upon the unique and special burdens that are incumbent upon the Jews.

  10. Brown was no better prepared than NAgin was. And Brown is the one who was responsible the moment the disaster was declared on 9/28.

  11. today I heard that the mayor was saying on Sunday night b4 the 'cane that all is taken care of, and that most of the people are out.

He also said that the Superdome is all set for those who care to go there as well as 11 other evacuation centers.

Anybody who chooses to stay home and ride out the storm will be "on your own", he said. We have teams of doctors and nurses ready to go.

So why did he change his tune?

Why does Pres. Bush get all the blame?

Why doesn't he stick up for himself, the Prez?
