"Militant Misnagidism"

That's what's been revealed to me these last few days in this blog.

Did I coin that phrase?

Sort of like the peasant in Vilna who threw Sholom Ber Krinsky out of shul. He yelled "Chassidski Jihad!".

Who's responsible for this new movement?

Here I thought we were beginning to get along so beautifully....

  2. chabad downgraded dhe meaning of chasidic so low , that the peasent in vilna thinks its a four letter word.

  3. The peons in Vilna think that they -m'chalal shabbos b'farhesia, eichel treifos v'neveilos, boial shiksas and the rest- are Misnagdem that fight on the side of the GRA . . .
They are low, and therefore resent the good that is done in the name of chassidus.

  4. mottel,
Hisnaggedus commenced with aveido zoroh ushefichas dommim; it is only natural that it would conclude with the missing link of gillui arayeis. So as far as these “peons” being mamshich di alte meseiroh – the snags have a strong point. ;)

  5. Berl, if I may, I'd like to answer that.

Aveidoh Zoroh means Aveidoh Shehi Zoroh, anything alien to Yiddishkeit as we know it. Hence, worshipping only Torah-scholars and discarding all others as useless masses is Aveidoh Zoroh.

  11. Berl&Co are already deep into the 'meshenichnas odor' spirit with Purim Torah. For those who couldn't decipher his post he actually claims that the 'real' idol worshippers are the 'snags who 'worship' the idea of becoming a 'godol'.Chasidim on the other hand are 'only' praising their rebbes a bit too much for the snags to take.
    Wishfull thinking....
The following url will take you to a website set up by a 'Rabbi' Ariel Sokolovsky:http://moshiachtv.blogspot.com/2006/01/rebbegodblogspotcom-faq.html.The name says it all:This Lubavitcher actually claims the Rebbe is the Aybishter, chas vesholom! Is this what Berl means when he says 'chasidim praise their rebbes'?Sokolovsky belongs to a miniscule fringe group of Lubavitch known as 'boreinuniks' but in essence he is not very far from a very substantial group known as the 'meshichisten' who promote the Lubavitcher Rebbe as being alive. If he can be 'alive' eleven years after he is not, how far is the next step of actual deification?

spare us, please. We all know about nuts like Sokolovsky. Please address the issue at hand without deviating like some kind of learning disabled child.

  13. Hirshel I was addressing Berls Pirem toirehs that claim that Lubavitchers 'only' praise their Rebbe, and it's very positive, while the oilem hayeshivas are the 'real' ovdei avoido zoro.
Sokolovsky, who btw, atarted out as 'only' a 'meshichist' proves what a grobbeh lie this is.
In case anyone wonders:The Meshichist magazine Bais Moshiach is full of borderline kefirrah such as only 'talking' to the Rebbes picture etc

  14. Hirshel-your oiberlander ovois. You think they were so stupid and backward because they weren't Lubavitchers?
Militant Lubavitchers are okay but militant snags are not, huh?Sounds very even handed.Maybe the snags got militant after someone tried to push tanya and Chassidus down their throats one time too many.

My Ovos HaKdoshim were fine, erliche yidden. Today there is no such breed, you either go Misnagdic or Chassidic, so I went the latter.

  16. Ironic that Yeshivishe guys who never learn any of the Sifrei Mussar V'Yireh "Gruntig" should be the experts on "Kefirah".

Can you tell me why "kissing the Rebbe's Picture" is Kefirah, please?

  17. If he can be 'alive' eleven years after he is not, how far is the next step of actual deification?

I don't know how far it is, but Yaacov Avinu has been "alive" in the same sense for over 3500 years after he was "not", and he hasn't been deified yet. So the process seems to take long enough that we don't need to worry about it happening to the LR until long after Moshiach has come (and, at least according to the Rambam, gone).

  18. Millhouse,
What did you mean by this:
"and, at least according to the Rambam, gone"

    ReplyDelete
  19. There are those who hold that the Moshiach will live forever, that death will be abolished during his lifetime, so according to them Moshiach will not have gone, even thousands of years from now. But the Rambam holds that we don't know how long it will be from the geulah till techiyas hameisim (he doesn't take the "40 years" literally), and it could be centuries or longer, in which case the moshiach will live a normal lifetime and die, and his son will succeed him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. In addition to which, according to the Rambam, even after techiyas hameisim, we will live a normal lifetime and then die again, this time for ever. And that obviously includes the moshiach. So even if techiyas hameisim happens within the next few thousand years, the moshiach will still be long gone by the time they are up.
