זאגט א ניגון

Authentic, unadulterated, and a good listen. There's even some Kol Isha in there! ( not linked here) For some reason one of the elderly Peylisher Chassidim, who seemingly had no sons, recorded him and his daughters singing.

Many of the Nigunim were recorded live at Tishen and Farbrengens. The recordings here are short, they're longer on the actual CD.

If you're tired of the so-called "Chasidic music" out there (Hakol Yodeechoo anyone?) give this a listen.

LISTEN:

  1. It looks like it is cheaper to buy it at JewishMusic.com.

    Heichal Menachem: $41.95
    JewishMusic.com: 29.99

It says also, "Includes over 160 page hardcover book in English as well as Hebrew."

  2. Sruly from Sameach Music sent me this e-mail:

"Hi, I just wanted to point out that our website is selling this same CD for considerably less.

We sell it for 23.99, which is 6 dollars less.

All order are also shipped out the same day. I hope I'm not infringing.

  3. Of the retailers listed, I would recommend Sameach based on price AND reliability (no, we do not work together - just that I have ordered from them and I am a substantial consumer of Jewish music, to put it mildly). They once sent me a double shipment and not only did they refund my money for the second inadvertent one, but they let me keep the duplicate disks (which went to a chessed org).

  8. N: Yes, a few years ago they sold a CD. I bought a copy since they had a 45 second sound clip of "Yavu Adir" recorded in Sudilkov.

there's a young man in our shul, originally from the Ukraine, who's been promising to give me the CDs, he just always forgets. I see he was referring to these.
