How do explain the reporters claim that Chanad is at the fringes of mainstream Judaism? What is mainstream, the seculer Jews> Reform? Or perhaps fringe Orthodox?

ReplyDeleteOne can comlain and groan if others are prepared to send manpower to start programs etc. Except for some limited programs by Stolin-Karlin, the Aguda, Skver Israeli groups the only group ready for a massive program is Reform.
YU and American modern orthodoxy has done almost nothing of a permanent nature for Russian Jewry except for some summer camps. Why not start several high schools there ? Perhaps a program to train MO rabbis ? As I write I do not believe there is even 1 MO rabbi in greater Russia ! Perhaps a girl's school in Moscow Its not Lazar's problem, the issue is why American Jews have not come in Russia and offered Russian jewry a choice.
