Reb Yossel Weinberg was from a family of Trisker Chassidim ( I once heard from him that the Trisker Rebbe put tefillin on him for the first time) in Poland who joined the Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Otwock and became a fiery and very devoted Chossid of the Frierdige Rebbe, and later the Rebbe. He was a fundraiser for the Yeshivos Tomchei Tmimim in New York who used his travels to spread Yiddishkeit wherever he went. His weekly shiur Tanya was listened to by thousands on the "Jewish" radio, and his shiurim were later compiled into שיעורים בספר התניא in Hebrew and Yiddish, as well as '"Lessons in Tanya" in English. He also took that opportunity to review a sicha of the Rebbe, זי"ע, and thus be עוסק אין הפצת מעיינות הבעש"ט ותלמידיו לקרב הגאולה שלימה. But most of all he was a varemer Chassidisher Yid who served Hashem with love and fear and helped his fellow Yid as much as he can. He left a family of Rabbonim, Talmidei Chachomim, Shluchim of the Rebbe who follow in his ways and the דרכי החסידות.

ReplyDeleteReb Yoseel opened many peoples eyes and minds to the holy tanya... My grandfather 3 generations belzer chosid was glued to his shiurim on the holy tanya ....
Btw you forgot to mention that he was last trisker chosid too

ReplyDeletethese pictures are mostly made by yeshivous in europe who used to send them overseas 'america' to receive charity they required certified proof of the number of talmidim etc. YU has a whole library with requests and receipt of the sums collected.
I can't help but think where are most of these talmidim today! I mean did they die naturally or c"v otherwise! recently I have seen i think from the sefas emes that people who got killed by a goverment are not בכלל קדושים, רק בכלל הרוגי מלכות! למאי נפק"מ

I like that name פרוכת'ל of course some wore that and some wore neckties like most people in yeshivous where doing at the time! (also beards or beardless) except in satmar europe or in america the full chsidishe levish was unofficialy required meaning those who didn't need not to apply!
They are very dignified and neatly dressed unlike the Lubavitcher and Litvisha Bochurim these days
