ReplyDeletechabad is too nuts to ever fit into such a small idea of modern orthodox. this is the greatest strong point and also paradoxically the greatist weakness to chabad.
most of the planet can not deal with this idea of no central control. there are many people who point out one or more things that they are not able to understand or forgive and think that this is chabad. there is the old story of the test of the blind men who are given the elephant to feel and tell what it is they think they have in their hands. the world is changing at a pace that few can adjust to. the idea of the Rebbe and chassid is no longer the same as it was up to today. the whole system of orthodoxy is being tested in ways it has never been tested before. to throw one self back into history is only good if you are willing not to make the mistakes of the past otherwise it is just a big waste of time.
