truly the end of an era, HT. He was the last of the Tmimim from Lubavitch.

ReplyDeleteI still have the clipped article from the New York Times, when he had'only'turned 105 shortly beforehand .Dec 7 2004, in the metro section
with his passing the last link to the chain to Tomchei Tmimim in Lubavitch has been removed. This may sound a little "corny", but this is a time of introspection, to see whether we're doing what the Meyased HaYeshivah had in mind.

"boruch dayan emes" would mean "blessed is A true judge" (as in "any old true judge")
ReplyDelete"boruch dayan hoemmes" means "blessed is THE True Judge (as in "The One")

The complete Broche is: BAHEMH Dayon HoEmes, so the shortened version would be HoEmes as well.
