The upcoming Acheinu conference

If you read Jewish newspapers you must've seen the ads trumpeting an upcoming conference that'll "change the face of Kiruv." The ads say very little about what it's about.

Who's behind it?

What will be done?

Who'll be included in this conference?

What will they do that hasn't been done yet?

I ask, I do not know.

  1. Chairman Mao is behind it?

Thousands will be slaughtered in Tiananmen Square?

A diverse crowd of every color hat?

    Nuke Iraq?

  3. Hirshel, tell us what you're thinking. Why are you beating around the bush ?

It must be a snag plot.

  4. Well, Snag

I was apprehensive at first, figuring it to be a Snag plot, but a friend recently told me that there's some sort of unity planned, he's just not sure. That would mean that Chabad would be active and participate in Acheinu. I'd like to find out more, and see if this is case.

  5. From 5 towns Jewish Times:
"Acheinu’s nasi, HaGaon HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, shlita, is intimately involved in all of Acheinu’s activities...One of Rav Lefkowitz’s prerequisites for all yungeleit working for Acheinu is that they must learn at least one full daily seder in yeshiva".

I guess there is a need for a special kiruv organization to be mekarev all of those people who were nisrachek by Rabbi Lefkowitz's ban on Rabbi Slifkin's books. (disclaimer: I do not know Rabbi Lefkowitz personally, merely by his bans)

  6. the fact that R' Lefkowitz is on the board, or the Nasi, means very little, we all know that. The question is: How will they differ from Arachim, or Lev LeAchim? And can't business people be part of this group? It's only if you learn one seder in Yeshivah?

  7. I just saw a booklet published by Acheinu, using Dirshu as it's source of literature. It's nothing that we haven't seen before. They did come with "new and innovative ideas," namely the BAIS CHIZUK (where have we heard that before?) where youngsters could come and get Chizuk "without making them to feel uncomfortable."

a new and innovative approach to chinuch. riiiiiight.
