Be afraid, Mrs. Greenberg
In short: some pervert is threatening a woman in Kiryas Joel who he says wears terribly provocative and immodest clothing, (as in the Dor HaMabul) and she's by extension profaning the whole town, that he'll do "everything in the world" till the family will pack up and leave "our town." Why do I call him a pervert if she may actually be doing something that's insensitive to the feelings of that village, and may be bringing others down with her? The answer is simple. No self-respecting Jew, who's truly bothered by her appearance (and I doubt it's as bad as he makes it) would go so far as to embarrass a family like that. I doubt a woman who was so terrible would sit around KJ if she was so different than the other people there. I do not wish to condemn the whole shtetl of Kiryas Yoel, so don't come and tell me what good people there are there. It is the culture however, that gives birth to such wackos, and makes them think that in some way they're doing G-d's work.
So, Mrs. Greenberg of 2 Karlin Boulevard, Monroe, NY 10950, if I were you I'd pick up and leave that town, the sooner the better. When we're dealing with hallucinating nuts there is no reasoning with them, and you cannot rely on the fact that most people are good and will not hurt you. Contrary to popular belief most "frum" zealots are violent people who'd be street thugs had they not been born to a frum, Charedi, zealous society. G-d has nothing to do with it. Their character traits do not change however, they just get channeled into Kano'us, and they become stone-throwing, garbage-burning goons. So if these were street thugs threatening you you'd surely pack up and leave, right? These people are no different.
מרס???
ReplyDeleteLOL!
well, I checked with whitepages.com, and it turns out that there is a Greenberg family living at 2 Karlin Blvd. So at least we know it's not a hoax, unless somebody's got it in for them....
ReplyDeleteI wish they would do that in Crown Heights
ReplyDeleteIs there no husband? Single woman? Why is it directed at her as an individual?
ReplyDeleteBut, anyway, I understand your point. Yeah, it's crazy. it sounds like someling the dor-deeah would have done, or maybe something that would have happened bzman habayis, or maybe in Hungary. A chutzpa! To come to the USA, create their own closed community, and demand that people adhere to the community standards?! Don't they know that "America is yah anderish?!"
Yossel
ReplyDeleteis that what they teach you? That your perversions somewhow connect you to the Dor Deah?! Thanks for the laugh.
The fact that no official community institution signed this nasty note should tell you that the intentions here are all bad.
Hirshele, have you ever learned Tanach or Gemora... ever?
ReplyDelete"Is that what they teach me?" You crack ME up my friend, I'm borderline M.O. from a "Yeshivishe" background.
(but my parents are Lubavitchers)
ReplyDeleteHirshel
ReplyDeleteI suspect a hoax,if not, this is one of the few times we are in agreement.
To anon who said they should do this in CH:
ReplyDeleteIf they would do this in CH it would be a book as big as teh yellow pages and there is no wall big enough to hang up such a thing.
If this was done in Borough park, they would run out of paper...
ReplyDeleteTzig, have u considered that maybe they have tried to 'poyl' by this woman 'mit sheinem' and it didn't work?
ReplyDeleteEs felt nisht kein azei ponim everywhere.
And as someone has posted, maybe if such treatment was dished out to the pritzos we have in CH, they too would change their ways or move away - and not continue to be machshil our boys and menfolk.
Sometimes drastic steps must be undertaken.
I love the way they mix up "Oon (and) and In (in) and both are spelled the same. Thw writer failed Yiddesh Grammar class (kemuvan).
ReplyDeleteTzig what do you suggest we do about Crown Heights.
ReplyDeleteYossel
ReplyDeleteso you're a MO Yeshivisher from a Lubavitcher background? It must be real difficult for you in today's society, no?
Can you provide a complete translation, for those of us whose knowledge of Yiddish is minimal?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
The Wolf
How should Crown Heights deal with this problem
ReplyDeletenot by doing this, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI am not so sure. If they put out a list every week of people that didnt keep Tzniyus there would be changes.
ReplyDeleteLet's suppose that such tactics would work, that there would be changes, and that terrorism is an effective way of improving public tznius. Would it be worth it? If we trade pritzus for violence, yotzo schoreinu behefsedeinu. Putting Jews in fear of their safety is a much worse avera than seeing the occasional sight that shouldn't be seen.
ReplyDeleteIf I could somehow demonstrate that we could cure the whole tznius problem by serving chazzer in 770; that if everyone in CH would only eat a kezayis of pork the women would all start wearing burkas; would you think it was a good idea? Would you suggest that it should be done?
The town is built on certain yesoides. If you can't get with the program, move out.
