Why are many (seemingly many, since they felt a need to make such a poster) Yiddish-speaking frumme and Chassidishe Yidden taking anti-depressants ? Is life as a frumme or Chassidishe Yid so depressing ????
wHY ARE MANY NON-cHASSIDISHE yIDDEN, INDEED NON-yIDDEN, TAKING ANTI-DEPRESSANTS?
sILLY QUESTION AND tZIG PRETTY SILLY COMMENT OF YOURS TO RE THE aRONIM.
Obviously you haven't seen depression from up close (and hopefully you never will). It is a terrible affliction upon the person and horrible on his/her whole family.
It can happen after some (even) tiny 'crisis' or problem someone has or sometimes for absolutely no reason
Anti-depressants work quite well in the majority of cases and we should that Hashem that these were invented.
The people need help, but pills are not the derech to simcha. Something is missing in the Yiddishkeit if so many are on those drugs. Chassidus, the movement that raised high a banner of ivdu es Hashem bisimcha, now is giving that job to doctors and pills. Oy vey.

ReplyDeleteKudos to the Hatzolah which is taking the right steps to protect the community.
Depression nowadays is, unfortunately, a problem which plagues our community as well. It needs to be addressed, and not covered up.
