Kiruv Rabbi Wants You To Go Home...
An email circulated by Rabbi Steve Eisenberg of Aish: (CAPS and ..... in the original)
"Tonite , I traveled to Yale University where I give my once a semester
Torah class to Maimonides students. BH the class went well.. I then left the
building with the Maimonides Rabbis.. We saw and heard the revelry of the
students celebrating the Obama victory. with their generous cups of beer in
hand... We looked at one another.. and shrugged.. I proceeded to the New Haven
train station to go back to NYC.. taking the 11:30 P.M train... tired and
trying to discern what the victory meant for the Jewish people, the
country and the world... I heard the conductor, passengers and crew laughing
celebrating the victory... none of which surprised me... and then 4 exuberant
young people said to me: "you must be upset." I asked why?" they responded
"because Obama has won." again " I asked why should I be upset?" " because you
are Jewish," they answered... I answered , "did you know that polls have said
that approximately 80% of Jews most likely voted for Obama?" they
replied: "but you are religious!" I replied with disbelief: "what?" They
responded "the majority of religious JEWS were supporting McCain." I
asked, "how do u know that? "everyone knows that" they said."." Religious Jews
know that the day of their power and their ruination of WALL STREET IS OVER....
CHANGE IS COMING.... OBAMA HAS PROMISED THIS." They walked away...
I felt sick and thought, wow! so maybe this is how the chapter for American Jews
is ending... The cell phone rang and it is was my friend Rabbi Jonathan
Shippell.. We spoke of the election results and he asked me "DO YOU KNOW
WHAT TONIGHT IS?" "No" I answered. He said..." TONIGHT is the anniversary
of KRISTALLNACHT." MY ALREADY DISTRAUGHT HEART SIGHED... I then remembered... the crying of Rebbetzin Esther Yungreis. the night of the Democratic National Convention. 4 years ago... She asked... "what is going on in that room?" she asked me... "what danger is taking place?" " look at our history!... as she cried further.. THAT OF COURSE WAS THE NIGHT WE WERE ALL INTRODUCED TO President elect Obama... HASHEM YIRACHEM.. zchor yemot olam.. says the pasuk. .It is 3:24 A.M.. I just walked in to my apartment... I think it is time to GO HOME.
Steve"
Wow! Ain't that something! I'm surprised an Aish Rabbi would say that knowing that Jews are so overwhelmingly liberal and voted for BHO. I guess he really feels like the danger is palpable.
You Americans are MAD! Obama Kristal nacht? NUTS!!
ReplyDeleteI debunked this here.
ReplyDeleteDoes no one actually read their calendar, last night wasn't the anniversary of Kristalnacht! (On the secular or hebrew calendars.)
Therefore I suspect this to be a fake.
It is NOT the anniversay of Kristallnacht!!
ReplyDeleteThat night in 2004 when the President-elect was introduced to the national audience for the first time was Tisha B'av.
ReplyDeleteKristallnacht was I think 15 Cheshvan, so this year's election date does not seem to correspond with it.
ReplyDeletegrow up. this is nonsense.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how little bitachon people have. If the abishter wants things to be good for us, it will happen; and r'l conversely.
ReplyDelete1) We DON'T run this world!
2) kol man d'ovid, l'taav hu! Since when does this not apply to an election?
3) The more frum Jews lament over this, the worse it will be.
2 points:
ReplyDelete1. whats with the formating? Is it a poem? your blog was one of the better ones, whats going on (copy + paste is not called editig)?

ReplyDelete'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.'
'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President.. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?'
A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?
C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state.
F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.
H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.
J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.
K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.
L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?
Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.
I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?
Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.
Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable' discharge after a few days in
the brig.
So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?
Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it
this way......Insane!
Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New
York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

ReplyDeletenowhere did I make mention of the man's race, so why accuse me of racism just because I don't like his policies?
Steve is baalabus who gives some shiurim for Aish, not a Rabbi - he works in finance. I emailed him about the mistaken dates - he sent a second email correcting himself.
ReplyDeletewe're talking dangerous. I know, I know I'm being a reactionary, I don't see the HOPE that is BHO, but what can I say? I look at his friends and es vert mir shvartz far di eygen, no pun intended. I look at the glorious ideas he's come up with and I shudder
ReplyDelete----------------------------------
No, you didn't bring up race.
In the heimishe kreisen, all I hear is, Chom is an eved. The eved is leading us. Moshiach is coming because a Yishmaeli will be leading us. He's an "Arab", socialist. He's been compared to Hitler,Stalin,Marx. I don't want to write other things I have read and heard. It's quite tragic how insular and uninformed we have become.

ReplyDeleteRahm Emanuel is an AMERICAN, child of Israelis. He served as a CIVILIAN volunteer for the IDF, but was never a soldier. He also helped Clinton orchestrate the Rabin/Arafat "peace" accords . . . not the best for Israel.
That and Zbigniew Brzezinski make me a little nervous.
Rahm Emanuel=TROUBLE, big time! (Another tragedy in the making).

Chicago, IL - Obama Civil Force Idea In The U.S., Appears To Have Come From Rahm Emnual
Published on: November 8th, 2008 at 11:19 PMNews Source: Exeminer - VIN News
Chicago, IL - On the campaign trail one of the controversy's that was posted on many news sites and bloggers including The Drudge Report [reported by VIN News] was the issue of Obama saying he wants to create a civil police force in the United states.
Wondering where that have might come from, and what exactly president elect Obama meant? Perhaps from his newly appointed Chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.
In his 2006 book The Plan: Big Ideas for America, Emanuel lays out an ambitious and detailed description of America, Emanuel-style, which would include a Democratic party free of New Deal policies and compulsory national service for all Americans under the age of 25.
The following excerpt is from pages 61-62 of the 2006 book:
"It's time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, All Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service. ...
Here's how it would work. Young people will know that between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service. They'll be asked to report for three months of basic civil defense training in their state or community, where they will learn what to do in the event of biochemical, nuclear or conventional attack; how to assist others in an evacuation; how to respond when a levee breaks or we're hit by a natural disaster. These young people will be available to address their communities' most pressing needs."
Emanuel and co-author Bruce Reed insist "this is not a draft," but go on to write of young men and women, "the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service." They also warn, "[s]ome Republicans will squeal about individual freedom," ruling out any likelihood that they would let people opt out of universal citizen service.
As chief of staff, Emanuel will not be in a position to directly introduce public policy, but his enthusiasm for compulsory service, combined with Barack Obama's own plan to require high school students to perform 50 hours of government-approved service, suggest an unfortunate direction for the new administration.
Democrats hailed the book as a voice crying in the wilderness while Republicans wailed that Emanuel was advocating a nationwide descent into the great dark night of socialism.
Some of the Republican angst over the The Plan probably stemmed from the book's lengthly and damning laundry list of Bush administration sins. However, with Emanuel standing next to Obama at the helm for the next four years, Republicans had best get used Emanuel's aggressive style since there is most likely going to be plenty more to come.
Emanuel is renowned, both in and out of his party, for his sometimes abrasive tactics. The Democratic strategist Paul Begala once vividly referred to Emanuel's political style as: a cross between a hemorrhoid and a toothache.
Naftali Bendavid's 2007 book The Thumpin': How Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats Learned to be Ruthless and Finally Ended the Republican Revolution, goes behind the scenes of the 2006 midterm elections and gives readers an up-close view of Emanuel at his peak. Bendavid credits the Democrat's success in that election almost exclusively to Emanuel's ferocious new approach to politics--an approach that will almost certainly be a major component of his strategy as the new White House Chief of Staff.
For anyone interested in political goings-ons, these next four years should make for some exceptionally fine viewing. Goody goody.
Google: Obama and civilian army or security and you will see a speech on video that frightens me.
ReplyDeleteHe never was questioned as to what he meant.(
In Germany too it was the civilain army that did what had to be done.
I love all the frum Yidden who have lukewarm feelings for the state of Israel suddenly going gaga over BHO's new chief of staff because of his Israeli background. How about Yossi beilim as the new Secy of State ?
Have any of Obama's Chaedi supporters given thought to Obama's position on equality of the sexes, could it just be that there will be issues caused by this that conflict with halocha and our life style, reporting for a draft, national service for ALL , problems for single sex schools and social programs.
ReplyDeleteThink about it for just a second , before you count your new welfare checks... Do you think Edgar Gluck can fix this ?
