We had featured the grammen by Rabbi Twerski where he "complains" about being "in Golus in Chabad," but wait till you hear him sing the praises of "Rabbeinu Shlit"a" and living on Shlichus! You'd think he was a Chabadnik MiBetten U'Mileydoh. Both Grammen were sung at the wedding of a grandchild of Rabbi Sholom Posner, shliach to Pittsburgh, Pa.
NOTE: It seems like it has become a little more complicated. Whereas you could once play the file right on the blog page, in its own little player, Now it looks like you need to download a small 1.3MB program, then download the file, and then play it in your media player. I'll try and facilitate things here a bit, But I assure you that the 2 minute process of downloading etc. is well worth it (oh! it also changes your home page to Bing.com, for some reason.)

both poems were from the same wedding of an Eynikel of Rabbi Sholom Posner of Pittsburgh. He didn't change, he was just saying how he has difficulty with certain Chabad minhogim.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tzig! Do you have a recording of his "Un Davke Bishvil Zeh..." of the whole hishtalshelus of Chasidus from the Ba'al Shem Tov till the Alter Rebbe & on? Some of the themes sung there are repeated here.

ReplyDeleteIt was 3 or 4 years ago that a sefer was put out on the Twersky brother of Denver that died awhile ago, by his grandsons, they describe him as a super genius "Moach Niflo" the brothers also write in their haskomas, the sefer itself does not show anything marvelous, it is a waste of paper, but maybe he was, that was never written on paper.
Do we have some one on board that can shed some light?
If u had any meat between your ears you would have read the introduction which plainly states that the sefer was culled from his speeches to the not yet frum, which leaves very little to the imagination why it looks the way it does,which is nothing to be ashamed of. besides, I'm sure you are mechadesh much deeper thoughts on a weekly basis at your shabbos table, why not share them with us, I'm sure the tzig will allow you to submit a guest post to display your genius...

ReplyDeleteI knew Rav Shlomo zt"l from Denver quite well and he was undoubtedly a certified genius. I know the sefer you refer to and agree with your assessment.
ReplyDeleteRav Dr. AJT is obviously a genius as well, but completely different from his brother R' Shlomo.
There is also the sell known and famous attorney R' Aaron and his brother in Milwaukee R' Mechel Shlit"a who was his father's successor in Milwaukee and as Rebbe.
There was another brother R' Mordichai (R' Mottle'la?) who I remember from Crown Heights (Chabad connection possibly? I know he was close to the Shem Tov brothers). He was a quiet man, liked by all, and known as a tzadik. Does anyone know any details about him?
Some clarification. The grammen Ich Bin In Golus In Chabad was sung at the first sheva brochos (nite after the wedding). The Twerskis and another family cosponsored that sheva brochos. The other one was sung at the chasunah. The family reports that the Rebbe heard a tape of the above grammen (Ich Bin In Golus In Chabad) within about 24 hours from when it was sung in Pittsburgh. Yes, it is also related that the Rebbe enjoyed it.

Grainom, read Gansburg's "Bakodesh Penimah," where he relates that the Rebbe would ask him from time to time to play Yossele Rosenblatt recordings.
