Sometimes you just can't bring yourself to write, try as you may, it just doesn't happen. This is one of those times, for several reasons, some happier than others. Maybe it's because I look back and see 6 years of writing, but very little as far as effect. Whatever that's supposed to mean. As if I really thought I'd make a difference.
Bear with me as I gather myself.
Hirshel, I know you put much effort into your posts. Sometimes there is simply "nothing to say" and we have to just enjoy the silence.
ReplyDeletethank you, Neil, for your kind words.
ReplyDeletehmmm, does this sound like teshuva??
ReplyDeleteאילו לא באת אלא בשביל תמונה זו דייך

I think you may need to clarify to yourself exactly what your real objectives were and still are in maintaining the blog.
ReplyDeleteWas it to gain acceptance in lubiland?
Was it to really provide a counterpoint to lubavitch bashing online?
Or maybe it was simple self agrandizement which is impossible to achieve while trying to stay anonymous?
Werte you expecting artscroll or harpercollins to offer you a book deal?
Sort it out, when the beard and (payos?) Comes off it will all be clear.
I certainly hope you continue. Reflect on the valuable friendships you have had for many years now from this blog. Not on the vituperative bull**** that passes in a second as soon as the trolls finish excreting.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary, you should only write when you have something important to say - quality trumps quantity.
ReplyDeleteis it because:

Dear Hershel Tzig.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly made difference for me.
Being attached to Chabad, I used sometimes to wonder about self-aggrandizement heard at farbrengens like umah noim goiroleinu - she anu chasidei Chabad vechulu. Sometimes I would wonder about outright negative attitude to a godol - rav Shach.
After reading on your blog what rav Shach was actually saying, reading comments of seemingly religious people about the Rebbe, I started feeling more deeply that indeed mah noim goiroleinu and the rest.

hey, easy on the old man,its the month of av no decision time! maybe it the 15 of av, the gemarah says: "man d'yosif yosifin loi.." so hershel spends more time learning! and than elul-tishrei by cheshvon he will be up to speed..
I have to say that as a chassidishe rov who is somewhat more "with it," I have learned so much from your blog as to the history of the frum world up to today, which helps me gain perspective and be more "normal."
ReplyDeleteKeep on going - chazak veemutz!
thank you

Why don't you write about a little derfl in White Russia near the big city of Smolensk? I think it was called Lubavitz.A lot of people never saw the old shtetelle.Believe it or not,I heard they picked up the whole kaboodle and dropped it into Bruklyn. I hear there are a lot of polne meshugoyim there today fun di real shmetenne. Once it was strong and mighty but today it is a silly little chassidus with lots of tzudreite.Nevech,nevech...Like the primitive Gelitziyane shtetellech fun amol it's worth sometimes to write about it.

ReplyDeleteVery original,I envy Hirshel for owning a blog with original thinkers
Harry didn't have his schnapps this morning, so he's a bit uneasy.
ReplyDeletei think the tzig does a big mitzvah so "bobov chusid" and other alike, should have a platform where to puke.

ReplyDeletenoting to say on Ari L Goldmans article on the NYT handling of the CH riots?
what's the surprise? The NYT hates frum Jews and Israel and was covering for Dinkins. I guess the fact that he admitted it is a bit of a chiddush.
ReplyDeletelook how many comment about nothing
