The many, many hats of Reb Yitzchok Frankfurter
I don't think I'd able to do his job. He defends and attacks - well, maybe "attacks" is too harsh a word, he allows attacks to be published - the same groups at the same time! One week it's Lakewood, the next week Lubavitch, the next week Satmar, he'll write nice things about them, that is. Then he's out there, both in Ami and on the radio, defending Charedim against claims of abuse, even if it is terribly unpopular. Then he profiles Brooklyn D.A. Charles Hynes - I guess he went there trying to ask him tough questions about why he all of a sudden picks on us - in the end what we get is Hynes talking down to the frum, telling them how they're not in the 19th century anymore and he'll throw us all in jail if we don't squeal to him... If this was me my head would spin off my shoulders! But we thought we could at least rely on his Chassidic background and upbringing to defend his people from nastiness like was said by Rabbi Noah - a Slonimer eynikel himself... Now even that gets published and defended by Reb Yitzchok.... Nobody's safe - except maybe Satmar? I don't think Satmar was included in RNW's remark - at least not in Reb Yitzchok's mind, they're the good Chassidim - so technically he still has a clean record with the Satmorim. Thanks, but no thanks, we don't need Rabbi Noah lecturing us from the grave. We're good.
Interestingly enough Rabbi Yossi Blesofsky - shliach in Queens - is a grandson of Reb Zalman Blesofsky, who was once a member of Nesivos Olam-Malochim in Williamsburg, but later joined Lubavitch, and was גבאי in the Rebbe's shul/770.. RZB's father himself was Reb Avrohom haCohen Blesofsky, a Karliner chossid whom the Stoliner Chassidim refer to as "Reb Avrohom כהן.
Hirshel, what about the Rashab lecturing us misnagdim from the grave? Chabad needs to get less sensitive to criticism (which wasn't of Chabad per se in this case anyway), especially since they have dished it out throughout their history. Please post this after the Chabad books for children stop trashing snags.
ReplyDeletecol isnt so happy
ReplyDeletehappy about what?
ReplyDeleteCOL (chabad on line) took of their post about this.. I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteI always feel bad for Frankfurter, hes in business three years and still isnt clear on what or who he is.
ReplyDeleteReb Hirshel
ReplyDeleteI am a little suprised about your anger. Isn't his point exactly what you always preach - tolerance to other peoples opinion and shittos. That no one has amonopoly on the truth and everyone is entitled to their hashkafos and way of life. Reb noach in that statment said nothing deragatory about chassidim or chabad. Every shita defines itself to an extent by comparing to itself to others and pointing out the way it is different than all others. As lubavitch does to poilishe chasidim. And sodid Reb Noach. The point reb Yitzchok makes in the editorial is simply that we should not be politically correct and censor out our differences. There are differences. Chabad IS different than the litvishe. And proudly so.So is Satmar from Belz etc. We need not all fit in the exact same mold. We are allowed to have differences. Please reply if you read this editorial anyway different.
he was taking about chagas chasidim
ReplyDeleteThe irony of the whole thing of course is that the Lubab's email is dripping with hatred and misplace hatred at that. How he turns a Chosid quoting another Chosid quoting a Slonimer Eiynekel into an attack on Litvaks is unreal. But of course he cant help himself as he proves by stating his and Lubavitche's raison d'etre, namely that it was the Litvaks who got the Alter Rebbe in trouble. (so similar to the Jews and the former Yid whose birthday is coming up). those Jews/litvaks, always mixing in where they are not supposed to. i would laugh, except it is sad. Move on boys & girls, it is 2012 and Frakfurter has it right. We are in this together so stop fighting two centuries ago fight unless without it you have no reason to live, namely it is your raison d'etre.
ReplyDeleteIt is simple we could have different opinions, but we should not be making derogatory statements about other groups of Yidden. No one complains when the differences are highlighted.
ReplyDeleteIf a Lubavitcher would write an article about how Reb Aharon starved his grandfather in Shanghai and later had a Din Torah with Rabbi Ashkenazi to pay him back for money he took from the Vaad Hatzalah funds, because he had write, "not for chabad".. would he print it?
Tzig: "The many, many hats of Reb Yitzchok Frankfurter"
ReplyDeleteNone of them are mine so i coudn't care less.

ReplyDeleteWhat is this all about?
Frankfurter claims that we all have to know what the Godal said no matter what. But who made Wienberg in to a godal, not the Yeshivisher velt, nobody out of the BT world.
ReplyDeleteWhy is more of a godal then Shloma Carelbach,Amnon Yitzchak,Shulem Arush.
He wrote some very weak sefer on Ikrim with noting in there, and he is a somebody to denigrate Chasidim in to Kofrim, (thats the inner meaning of his vort)for this little nonsense that he wrote he could have stay a Krechnifer Chosid, Slonim his rich heritage, is too intelectual for this talmudic midget Wienberg .His Zieda the Yesod Hoavoda was a goan in Nigleh and in Nistar, as you see in his multiple seforim.
hirshel: "Nobody's safe - except maybe Satmar?" "technically he still has a clean record with the Satmorim. "
ReplyDeleteIsn't that your day job?
!מקום הניח לך להתגדר בו
"and later had a Din Torah with Rabbi Ashkenazi to pay him back for money he took from the Vaad Hatzalah funds"
ReplyDeleteThis is new to me. Where was the Din Torah? Who were the Dayanim? What was the Psak?
Twistleton
ReplyDelete"This is new to me"
this is new to everybody since it never happened.
Frankfurter claims that its no problem to get a Rebuke from this Franfurter so called Godal.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see in the Droshas Chasam Sofer or Yares Devash the 2 most famous Sifrie Derushas that has Mussar and Rebuke, from real Gedolai Yisroel, that they say on the largest segment of Madakdie Kala Kebechamura that they are Kofrim in the Ikrie Yahadus? Could a nobody like Wienberg rebuke a Yid like the Chidushai Harim or the Tzemach Tzedek? that they have a problem on Ikrai Yahadus? This is simple rabble rousing from a sheer savvy PR guy like Wienberg, and this Self promoter Brisker Dechad Yomai, Frankfurter, who thinks that pitching a Jew against each other will raise his readership.
Frankfurter has the audacity to call it mending achdus yisroel based on some English writer.
Mirer Bocher: "this is new to everybody since it never happened"
ReplyDeleteDid you got molested in mir to? omg! no wonder they say it's קשה לשכחה but only if you knew anything to begin with! no?
Is Frankfurter so naive or idiotic that opening old wounds and rehashing old machlokes, would start a new era in solving all Machlokes, so instead of following the Chofetz Chaim to beware of Loshan Hora with its 36 lavim ,that obviously was the wrong path in the eyes of this infantile Frankfurter.Since there are still some schisms in Klal yisroel, so now we have the Frankfurter way, Just spit in your friends way and malign him and we will see mucho achdus spouting, what a genius this Brisker dechad yomai is.
ReplyDeleteStar K: "is too intelectual for this talmudic midget Wienberg"
ReplyDeleteMidget? in height or depth and length, or abdominal grid?
Ponovizher Gabai
ReplyDelete"Did you got molested in mir to?"
No, I was beaten up like Nati Grossman, in the ponevzher way
This whole letter to the editor is so infantile. It makes me embarrassed to be chabad. Come on guys grow up already. We're bigger and better than this.
ReplyDeleteThe kinder gentler approach is heresey, so is quoting king david and shlomo togheter with the poet auden, no wonder that this rag is florishing while while many are spiritually degenrtating.
ReplyDeleteTzig at it again!
ReplyDeleteWhile Chabad on line, the ones who FIRST posted about this have removed this personal attack the Tzig is showing what a "mekisher" he is
I am trying mightily to understand Yitzchok Frankfurters response.
ReplyDeleteAnd the the last two sentences are an enigma.
"We tried the kinder gentler approach for quite a few years. The results, I think, speak for themselves."
What was tried exactly, when was it tried, who tried it, what didn't work, why didn't it work and was it tried enough ? And what were the results ? With whom does the blame lie ? Was it because of the kinder, gentler method or some other reason ? And is the only solution, to begin using Franfurters method and not some other ?
I am not being facetious here, I seriously would like to understand what exactly he means.
Seems to be some coded thought without much elaboration.
There are issues and topics usually and correctly so that aren't "covered" in the frum press. Ami breaks all tabbos, I can't let it into my house without reading every printed word before my children do.
ReplyDeleteFirst skver and now weberman, are they going to write about the abuse scandal at YU too?
Noiach "mit zibn glyzn" Weinberg has no right to give toichecha to anyone. For years he pretended he was still married so he could sell his ragtag collection of nuts and prutzos on the idea that a Jewish marriage is always permanent and happy.
ReplyDeleteThen, when he realized there was no money in filling his "institutions" with nuts and prutzos who hung around Y-m, he removed "haTorah" from the Aish trademark and went into business full force, charging thousands for in-office shiurim that any Lubavitcher shaliach would give for a glass of cold water, if that.
I think he had about 1% of real Torah, assuming he was indeed shomer Shabbos. As for his yichus, he is chometz ben yayin, or the perfect example of how yichus is just a row of zeros unless you are the "1" in front of it.
Aish Esish,
ReplyDeleteIf you need to bad mouth the dead so badly you are probably not mezareh hayehudim

ReplyDelete??????????
Noiach mit 7 gleizen was dead even when he was alive.
ReplyDeleteLo bashamayim hu, and few of his 48 ways and Torah Codes brainwashees remain frum for long.
He was the Ashkenazi pseudo-intellectual version of Amnon Itzhak - except Amnon the clown is funnier.
