R' Boruch was a pupa durech and durech. his father is/was one of the gvirim of pupa and he got attracted to chassidus in tshebin. IIRC, his family connection to skver is tenuous at best.
Pupa "was" very close to Skver. Many schiduchim were made in those years between Chosheve Pupa Yidden and Choshve Skver Yidden.Basically the backgrounds were identical.
Rabbi BO was in his early bochurishe years one of "choizrim" and writers of Torah said by the Pupa Rav zt"l he had a lengthy discussion with the Pupa Rav zt"l regarding his defection to Chabad (the Rav sided with him when some relatives voiced their objections). BTW his father a"h passed away not so long ago, so the "sheychyeh" in the article is a typo.

Anyone know the status of the Cheder in Budapest, i.e. under the official community's auspices? Was this the school Rabbi Oberlander was referring to?
