ראו זה חדש: ספר "מיכאל באחת" - תולדות ומכתבים מאת הגאון האדיר ר' מיכאל אליעזר הכהן פארשלעגער זצ"ל

There's much to be said about this Gaon that lived not so long ago in (partial) obscurity in these United States. The things they say about him they don't say about almost anybody else. But like everything else in this world -- דארף מען האבען מזל. You might say that had he stayed in Europe he would've been one of the greatest. Some Litvak is said to have commented that through him we must say that דער אבני נזר האט געקענט לערנען, טאמער האט ער געהאט אזא תלמיד.... Leave it to them to make such comments.

  1. I saw this in the attached
"Another example is the Satmar Rov, Harav Yoel Teitelbaum, zt”l, who was quoted as exclaiming as he was sending a shaila to Rav Forshlager: “Who am I to send a shaila to Harav Michoel Forshlager?”"

and I believe its a lie.....

  2. if you were trying to quote Rav Gifter zt"l, that's not what he said.

  7. Here you can see quite obviously, that where he gave a deaf yomi shiur, is a 137-year-old Modern Orthodox Shul - uninterrupted.

Check your facts a little more carefully. Everyone can Google to find the truth.

For those too lazy to look by themselves...

"Located just minutes from Baltimore's spectacular Inner Harbor, historic 137-year-old B'nai Israel Synagogue, the longest continually-operated Modern Orthodox synagogue in Maryland..."

That's some real motzi shem ra above. Tzig, you may want to edit out the offensive lies.

Mitaher es hasheretz jumped to the Conservative conclusion based on the picture on the homepage of the synagogue.
A fascinating history of this Orthodox shul can be read here:
    http://www.bnaiisraelcongregation.org/history.php
"Day and night study took place in the Bais Hamedrosh. There is no record of a hired spiritual leader for the congregation from 1912 to 1930. The congregation was made up of learned men who conducted the affairs of the synagogue and turned B'nai Israel into a true house of study."

  11. I can tell you, the congregation used to be merged with a conservative shul. They don't mention it on the page, maybe because the place has had YU rabbonim for the past 25 years.

  12. Check page 3 of this newsletter, where they write that R. Forschlager *left* his teaching positions when the Shul merged with conservative! This is from R. Friedman and Bergman who are compilers of the new bio:

  13. I am shocked, since the publishers are out to make Rav Forshlager in to a Satmar chosid.
Its hard do digest that a Sochachover talmid, should be anti the Yishuv in Eretz yisroel, and be lukewarm against the conservative movement, with a platform no torah min hashomaim.
sometyhing is missing in this biography..
Maybe the publishers need it for fundraising reasons,to print all his kesovim, which be great for the olam hatorah, I wish them well
