I am not a Spinker chosid but I heard a lot from my folks who knew the tzadik well...
The Machnuker son was by the wedding. He is a first cousin for Harav Hakodesh Reb aron Mordechai thru marriage to the Makever Lenmbergers.

ReplyDeleteI was brought up from my early childhood on the Avodas Hakodesh of the Chakal Yitzchok,from eyewitnesses, that saw him after the friday nite tish. Learning by a shtender Gefes,(he was learning while standing even when he was in his eighties, his kol torah was ringing loud on the street, till the early morning.
This witnesses are not spinker chasidim, it was so obvious that every kid in town recalls it.
The Wiesses and Horowitz are fine yidelech trying to enjoy life by not working, I wish them mazel Ubrocha, but Spinka is Reb Fishele of Bedford gardens.... who know a big part of Torah as a youngster in Munkach,and is breathing the Chakal Yitzchok, Zidichov, Komarne 24/7

Rav Fishel Hershkowitz was on the cover of last weeks Ami magazine.
ReplyDeleteThe article refers to him as the Dayan of Klausenberg. Where does Spinka Chassidus fit in here?
Just asking no disrespect meant.
Reb Fishele was a Spinker Chossid from Munkacs. He grew up in the Spinker Kloiz there. His parents and grandparents were Spinker Chassidim. He only met the Klausenberger Rov after ww2.

ReplyDeleteBTW my father went to see the Spinka Rebbe in about 1940.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother A"H was ill and her son, my father went to get a Brocha.
The Rebbe asked my father what he does and my father replied that he is a Yeshiva Bochur. The Spinka closed his eyes, banged on the table and said "Rebono Shel Olam er Learnt." He then told my father to go home and his mother would recover and she did.
Standing in front of my father was a woman asking for a Bracha for her husband who was ill.
The Spinka replied "so your son will earn the Parnassah." The man unfortunately did not recover.
SPINKA הגאון רבי נחמן כהנא was a SIL by the CI's father the Imrei Yosef. (passed away 1909) The Kahanes shtam from him.

ReplyDeleteI agree Reb Fishele is true Sapinka (as old timers pronounce it) he is considered the greatest boki in kabolah and that itself is a product of Zidichoiv/Spinka.

I once met a Spinker Chusid from Selish who told me with tears "you know the rebbe would rise early morning to learn, and the rebbe learned with such hasmode and loud voice that the neighbors heard him beginning every morning 3am. You know, the goiyim, who wanted to catch the train, didn't have to set a clock, they knew that when the rabbin was heard it's time to run to the station."
I have a friend an einikel of Reb Hershele and his zeide told him that when he was a young bocher he learned in the next room of the chakal Yitzchok and whenever he became quiet for a while, he heard a knock on the door "why don't I hear you learn?"

Knowing Reb Fishele for 30 years you see the power of PR and elbowing. You see that certain gedolim with much less Torah knowledge then Reb Fishele are constantly on the page 6 (Kol Haolem Kuloi etc..)even the biggest boki of them all who resides in Brnai Berak, does not have the vast knowledge of Reb Fishele, but they all enjoy the Matzav hovering them.

Its Shulchan Orech with all its Noai Kielim, bekius in most sifrie Shut,knowledge in all rishonim printed and manuscript,
