Loitzker Rebbe visits "Schneersohn Library" in Moscow
This recording is somewhat of a novelty, being that RBZS sings it at a very slow pace, as well as inserts some very unique chazzonus shtiklach. Almost as if he were trying to "improve" on the piece. Make it more appealing, if you will. Something we never hear from him. If you have 27 minutes to spare, listen. Or just let it run in the background while you "work."
UPDATE: SUNDAY 3/15/2015. THE CLIP HAS BEEN REMOVED. ASK ME WHY IN THE COMMENTS, IF YOU SO PLEASE.
I wonder why Ezkero isn't available on either of the two Modziter web sites?
ReplyDeleteI've heard from some of the older Modzitzer Chassidim that there is a very big Kpeido not to publicize the Niggun.
Can anyone shed some light upon this issue?
When the (Lubavitcher) Rebbe said his famous sichos explaining the sugyeh of "kom raba veshochte lireb zeyre" during the shabosim after purim 5747(?), the rebbe mentioned this nigun (without name) as being what held the Modzitcher Rebbe from having kloys hanefesh during his surgery in Vienna (he composed it while looking out tbe window during the operation; supposedly, he turned down receiving anesthesia). Not long after the farbrengen, this very recording of BTS was copied over & passed aound the bochurim in 770, oholei torah, & morristown.
ReplyDeleteBte, there's a tenueh in this nigun (timecode ca. 9:00) that is almost identical to an old chabad nigun called "klois hanefesh nigun" (attributed to r' moshe vilenker?).
Thanx Tzig!

Actually, the tenueh at timecode 8:30 is very similar to the last fal of the "nigun yeridas haneshomeh" of r' moshe tchashniker (not nigun klois hanefesh).
ReplyDeleteAlso iirc there is another, shorter Modzitcher "ezkeroh" - but the longer one is the more choshuveh one & sung on the yortzeit in the flatbush shtibl.
BTW there's a chabad nigun called "lamnatzeiyach" that suppopsedly is originally a Modzitcher nigun & shortened by chabad chasidim. U can hear it on '"chasidus oyfn telefon" heichel negineh #3: 718-735-7333.

Why did you remove Ezkero?
ReplyDeleteBTW, there is a link to a recording of Ezkeroh sung by BZS at a Seudoh - http://www.piyut.org.il/tradition2486.html?currPerformance=3230, which was put up by Sara Ben Arzah.
I removed it at the request of a revered Modzitzer Chossid who told me that the Rebbeim of Modzitz were makpid not to publicize the niggun.
