ReplyDeleteYair hoffman is poshut an am haoretz. The whole thing of lighting in a shul is for pursumei niso only. Al pi din you cant be yoitze your personal chiyuv from the shul, because its not your residence. Nevertheless, there is an inyon of pursumei niso ,and we still make a brocho on it. So where does he take the idea that this is not a place where the chachomim delineated? Obviously there are 2 separate aspects to neiros chanuka, which he is not aware of. And the way he finishes off his last line shows that he has an agenda.

DeleteThe problem is he's not an am haretz, but he has an agenda.. remember there was a time here in NY that the gedolim felt beard and peyos, or a strimel is not appropriate on the street. but they came a long way, today's leaders are followers, they are right behind you.

DeleteTo preface, What I write now is really connected to an earlier post (re the Belz connection to 19 Kislev/Chabad). I don't think people will still scroll down to there, so going to post my "two cents" here:
ReplyDeleteRe what Hirshel wrote there (in the post itself), regarding why to uphold the Baal HaTanya's release versus the release of other Rebbes. -- So I just want to point out, that it's noted in Seforim, that there were other Rebbes who had a kitrug then as well (one example, is that the tayneh of davening loud in the BHT's interrogation - was really about chasidei Karlin, etc), and the government wanted to see according to how the Baal Hatanya's case goes -- that's how the others will fare. (And the rest is history). So even from a very practical sense, it's a celebration for gantz Chasidus l'anafeha! So efi everyone would do a little more history check-up, they'd know that too.

ReplyDeletequiz: do you know what the belze wore before and after, and why he did and than didn't and now he does wear what?! and when does he and doesn't wear it, and each of the kulpik spodik wearers have different customs. or the difference between kulpik and spodik? דרייט ניט קיין ספאדיג is an understatement trying to learn all these fine customs, btw the lutvaks who think it's all about attention seeking for the clueless rebbes, boy are they wrong.
