(Reb Lazer Berland on the left)Brochos for SaleThe Litvishe Rebbes are going strong this time of year, dishing out Brochos to unsuspecting American Temimus'dikke Yidden who'll do anything to be blessed. I don't blame them really, what else would work? But why the fake pictures with Kvitlech and Pidyones in the brochures?
Thanks to
Bloggerai for the tip.
His name is R' Eliyashiv you asshole.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if you hate litvaks.
He just happens to be close to a hundred years old, and is a massive talmud chochom.
Correct his name NOW, or we will unleash the Lakewood Hackers who keep hacking UOJ blog.
This will be your FINAL WARNING.
CORRECT HIS NAME......now.
I gotta call my lawyer.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so ready to be skeptical of the stories. The gemara tells enough stories of the small miracles that happen to people who give tzedakah. Tzodakoh tatzil mimoves.
ReplyDeleteI don't give to Kupas Ho'ir for one reason. Well, two reasons: one is that I'm annoyed by the name; if you're advertising outside your own city, use a name that indicates which "ir" you're a kupah for. As far as I'm concerned, stam Kupas Ho'ir means Brooklyn, not Bnei Brak.
But the real reason I don't give is this: Bnei Brak has a rov. A mara de'asra. A city institution ought to involve him in some way. And yet I read all the glorious brochures carefully, with all the lists of rabbinic endorsements, and I did not find an endorsement by the shtot rov. I must assume, therefore, that there is something wrong with the Kuppah, that led him to withhold his endorsement. It couldn't be, after all, that they had the chutzpah not to seek it in the first place, or not to print it if it was given. Could it?
Why is it that all of the nowadays so called Gedolim are all Achrei Mos Kedoshim emor (aligorically speaking. When you turn 75 you become a Gadol is this how it works today? Moshe Feinstein was the Velt Posek, Rav SZ Auribach also (for Israel) R Aryeh Levin was a Tzaddik. Ten years ago I never heard Elyashivs name. So too Steinman- now that he is a Zaken Usva Yamim that nebach he needs someone to help him walk does that make him a Gadol? An eighty year old man mitamol gevoren a Gadol.
ReplyDeleteOr is ti just becasue nowadays they dont have anyone else so it's an inyan of kol harotzeh litol es hashem?!?
Please leave Rav Steinman out of this. If nothing else, he is an ehrliche yid who keeps out of politics, and I am told that he is indeed a גאון עצום; moreover, he does have contact with the city's Rov, and is said to be working on increasing the peace.
ReplyDelete"Gedolim" are not by definition bad just because they live in BB.
I heard the same, Nathan. But I do wish he would not look so cadaverous though. And why, I ask you, don't any of them EVER look happy or at least content? They are always tzuchrochen, farbisseret, farkvetzet... WHY I ASK?
ReplyDeleteאסור לאדם למלאות פיו בשחוק בזמן הזה
ReplyDeleteI guess they're מקיים that din properly....
You know why berel because in the back of their mind they know about this tzoroh in the velt called chabad and krechts about this new avodoh zoroh how many korbonos will stray from yidishkeit because of the cult - kat, and they see how right Maran Harav Shach was!!
ReplyDeleteYou think people like Chaim actually believe what they write?
ReplyDeleteשמעתי from TA's Rebbe Zelig Levin, a Talmid of Ponovezh Mesivta (L'Tze'irim) that HaRav Shteinman is אן ערליכער . About the other faculty there he did not say that, so we can learn something from that.
א שאד that he couldn't be introduced to Chassidus, אוי וואלט דאס געווען א זאך!
To all the Kanoyim here who suddenly worry about HaRav E-lYashiv's Koved, please remember that he was a member of the Beis Din of the Jerusalem Rabbinate (the Rabbanoot) and defied the Brisker Rov for all those years. A "Real Brisker" does not worry about RYSE's Kovod.
ReplyDeletere: Kupat Ha'Ir; Milhouse hit the nail on the head when he tells of the total disrespect they show to THE Rov of Bnei Brak. אבער וואס זענען די ארימעלייט שולדיג?
Here's the latest from the Great and Wonderful Man.
ReplyDeleteUngarisher Litvaks are a chozek - and so are Ungarisher Lubavitchers. Vihameivin yovin.
ReplyDeleteMilhouse
ReplyDeletedo you think it's us? maybe only we see the decision you bring here as pure Meshugas? Otherwise wouldn't we hear a loud collective groan from the masses in Eretz HaKodesh?
Lubavitch for Russians only! all others need not apply, right?
ReplyDeleteTzig, you say that it's a shod that Rav SHTEINMAN was not introduced to chasides and I ask:You who was introduced to chasides.........I see nothing on this blog that would want to make me involved in chasides.
ReplyDeleteNot even a trop respect for a yid hecher ninetzig, learning non stop for almost all those years, he does even deserve A TITLE OF Reb....?(I'm referring to Horav Elyoshiv)
You must be learning fake chasidus, a chosid goes lifnim meshuras hadin and I'm sorry you write worse than a yeshivishe leidigeyer
Hirshel, I have nothing against the orimeleit. I give to Colel Chabad, Tomchei Shabbos, Simchas Shabbos Veyomtov, City Harvest, Yad Eliezer, Ezras Yisroel, Chabad of Kishinev, and the One Israel Fund. Not to mention my local shul's matonos lo'evyonim and mo'os chittim funds, and several other institutions here and there (not all Chabad, in case anyone's keeping score). I think the orimeleit have no ta'anos to me. But I'm not giving a penny to Kupat Ha'ir, or to the new one, whatever it's called. When they include the rav of Bnei Brak among the endorsements in the brochure, then I'll give.
ReplyDeleteI meant to write 'does he NOT even deserve a title of Reb
ReplyDeleteYisroel
ReplyDeleteI did write HaRav in the comments.

ReplyDeleteYou claim you never heard of Rav Elyashiv 20 years ago, well let me educate you and explain you a little back ground how it works,
from time & memorial a godol is someone who lo possuk pumei megirsah, you havent heard of reb elyashiv back then because he was sitting and learning day and night (correct he was in the rabbanut , but tzig you aint no brisker otherwise you would accept what they hold about chabad, or better yet what the brisker rov prophesiced 60 years ago after seeing the first sicha, so dont give me brisker , you cant pick and choose be cosecutive)
Anyways back to anony. a godol is not born a godol like the rebbelech believe, and served a life of pinuk and hevlei olom hazeh from childhood (fruits on gold platters and other type of GARBAGE) because they will be the next rebbe, you are right those type of "gedolim" you hear about years in advance not just when they turn eighty, but you know what no one knew who the chazon ish was either until he was sixty because he learned day and night in a kloiz in vilna(so much so for the vilna bashers, get a little history on the vilner yidden)
and by the way in the torah world even 50 years ago everyone knew there is a massive talmid chochom yungerman that is a masmid otzum reb yosef shalom elyashiv, just like everyone knew the steipler had a son that one day will become something due to the fact that lo posuk pumei megirsei, so gedolim is not some contest that you apply for, its many years of being out of the limelight not being involved in anything but torah till you are discovered, now start learning a little and maybe you will be zoche to be a KOTON
Shimon
ReplyDeletewe already discussed the statements attributed to the BR here many times. The point is if he was treif to the Godol HaDor (the BR) how can he suddenly become the Godol HaDor? All of a sudden he's the Urim V'Tumim?
Please do not compare him to the CI either, those times were very different.
I agree with you about the fruits on gold platters however.:-)
To all of Reb Lazer Berlan's detractors למיניהם
ReplyDeleteIsn't the fact that he's sitting with the Godol HaDor a Haskomoh on eveything he says?
HT
ReplyDeleteI am happy to see you agree with me on one thing "fruits on gold platters" etc', it does not take much common sense to realize that that lifestyle and upbringing is a total opposite one of what the torah wants, (and to be called a tzaddik yet)
Moshe belangah,
ReplyDeleteCan't you say anything which makes sense or addresses a point?
SHIMON made pretty good points:Address them or go back to singing Yechi .
Rabbeysai,
ReplyDeleteFirstly if the Chabad community had a leader , most of the eylam, world over would go to him for berachos and together beschem echad I am sure he would poel for klal .This would be especially true and urgent in matters relating to eretz israel and its terrritorial integrity.
Next I think rabbi Elyashev is an erlikhe Yid and does not seek to be a holy man. He was always a well known posek see his role in the ach veachos case involving Rabbi Goren where the rebbe and he were on the same side. The rav is a rav in a shul affiliated with Hapoel hamizrachi and is hardly a "heavy hitter" i the sense of some American gedolim.
Next here is the rub there are many lesser people than Rav Elyashev giving berachos and acting as poale yeshuoth asher bada milibam and unsuspecting Americaner yolden go to them when they come here. Since its Purim i will not mention specific names. One is the political secy of the Eda in jslm, but when he comes to the sttaes he becomes a baal meyfes.
But rabbis Elyashev, and Steinman are erliche Yidden and gedolim in learning . I saw Rav Steinamn 2 years ago in WH a serious erliche Yid asher lo machzik tivusa..
Next charity in this season .. well its all a gescheft and a serious one at that, und men dreyt mit millyonen.
By the way why doesn't someone look into rabbi Berland's background, it may make for an interesing comment.
