I really enjoyd his book (From my Zaidy's House - http://www.ecampus.com/book/097023600X ). A very interesting figure. I recommend the book, it's more than his life story - it really is teh story of so many people who grew up during the war years.
L'hoir, he was the first Sholom Dovber born after the Rebbe Rashab's histalkus (5680) and named after him. * Also, on shturem, there's a shtikel on his yachas with the Rebbe, ayin sham.
