Ish Mesiras Nefesh - KiPshutey
רבי ניסן פינסאן ע"ה
More Here
Reb Nissen was another of the legendary Shluchim who went from the frying pan to the fire. A few weeks ago we lost Reb Shlomo Matusov. Now Reb Nissen, who was in Casablanca for the first decade or so with Reb Shlomo, has left this world. In 1960 he was sent by the Rebbe to Tunis and basically stayed there for the rest of his life, despite his failing health.

Sorry, but that does not show chashivus. Suicide bombers kill themselves for their beliefs. Living in yehoopitsville for the sake of one's rebbe is a narishkeit, and those who believe in it should get little credit for sacricing for their beliefs. Lawyers work crazy hours to make millions, does that make THEM chashuv?
ReplyDeleteone thing's for sure: your comment makes you a moron.
ReplyDeleteYou mean like a master, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks for demonstrating that you have no rational basis for a purely subjective belief, ie, the value of shluchim in yehoopitsville. It was irresponsible to send a Jew out there in the first place. He had no obligation to do it.
I will add that my "moronic" idead and/or tone are no less offensive than your hatchet job on Abish Brodt. But you need a refined sense of persepctive and decency to appreciate that, something you continuously demonstrate as out of your reach.
Tunis had many thousands of Jews at that time, and still has a Jewish community today. I guess that anything out side of Lakewood is not worth your time.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
Sat Hello to Abish for me.
Lakewood actually had thousands of Jews today, but I guess anything outside of Chabad is not worth your time.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
I guess this is a new tactic amongst the snags. Belittle a Yid who saved thousands of Jewish neshomos while putting his life in constant danger. Why? just because.
ReplyDeleteThen they wonder why i say that snags are Ziburios SheBeziburios.
You people give the Tzaddikei Lita a bad name, your whole existence is just that: Snags, anti, believe nothing just knock the one who does good.
you know tsig, even though i and many others think you shouldn't post the moron ( with 2 alefs ) anonymous and hymie's sina, what anonymous wrote about the shliach from tunis finally shows that he lives in a world of his own. i dont think one of our gedolim would condone such an idiotic comment.
ReplyDeletetsig - please dont insult litvaks - i am one of them. the מאראן doesnt represent us. you can see he is missing not just a few screws but the whole brain. you didnt say one bad word about lakewood - you just said we have to worry about all jews including lakewood. it immedeately brings out a nonsensical comment suggesting you dont care about lakewood jews. tsig - i repeat- even though morron and hymie are ending up discrediting only themselves, they still lower the standards of a potentially interesting blog. just press the delete button - אנשי דמים ומירמה ... the rest speaks for itself.

While I respect R'Pinsons messirus nefesh to say that he saved 'thousands of Jewish neshomos' is just plain nonsense. The Tunisian Jews were and still are traditional.Your other comment that he was putting his life 'in constant danger' is again plain nonsense.Till this day there are about a thousand Jews in Djerba and they live there in peace with their neighbors.
ReplyDeleteTry and be honest ,even when you have a bias.
This in no way belittles Rabbi Pinson. For an Ashkenazic chasidic guy to live so far from others of the same in a Muslim country is not easy.
i dont usualy post but anain #1 is so degrading insulting kipushuto an naaar tipish and even worse
ReplyDeletehow can u say that
wow do teshuva
that's what I said to him; don't give Litvaks a bad name, which he does, although I know better than to think that he represents them.
ReplyDelete>>I guess this is a new tactic amongst the snags. Belittle a Yid who saved thousands of Jewish neshomos while putting his life in constant danger. Why? just because.
ReplyDeleteThis demonstrates you lack any modicum of honesty with respect to your own foibles. Have you actually READ what you wrote just a couple of weeks ago about SEVERAL tzadikim who did just as much as this shliach? I just don't see how you can be so morally obtuse.
??Then they wonder why i say that snags are Ziburios SheBeziburios.
You people give the Tzaddikei Lita a bad name, your whole existence is just that: Snags, anti, believe nothing just knock the one who does good.
YOu say that because you are full of sinas chinam. This is something you have consistently demonstrated throughout most of your posts. You are the one who gives CHABAD a bad name. YOUR hate, YOUR dishonesty, YOUR failure to have personal responsibility for that which you have written.
>>tsig - please dont insult litvaks - i am one of them. the מאראן doesnt represent us. you can see he is missing not just a few screws but the whole brain. you didnt say one bad word about lakewood - you just said we have to worry about all jews including lakewood. it immedeately brings out a nonsensical comment suggesting you dont care about lakewood jews. tsig - i repeat- even though morron and hymie are ending up discrediting only themselves, they still lower the standards of a potentially interesting blog. just press the delete button - אנשי דמים ומירמה ... the rest speaks for itself.

There is too much nonsense here to comment on and hardly anything here deserves a response. Just note I did not mention anything about anyone being uniportant--Tzig fabricated that issue. The fact is, given his hatred for anyone not Chabad, he hates everyone in Lakewood. Look at his posts about Lakewood and its Roshei Yeshiva--including R' Aharon. If you are so obtuse to notice this point, Chabadsker posing as a Ponovezher, then the balance of your comments is not worth responding to.
Not only is he not giving Litvaks a bad name--like sonei yisroel like yourself would care--but lying idiots like a Chabadsker claiming to be a Ponovezher is highlighting how low you people go to try to make a point. PATHETIC!!!
ReplyDeleteHe didn't live in Djerba, he lived in Tunis. That's VERY different, there they had the PLO etc. If you'd stop worrying about my bias you'd see that very clearly. Do a little research.
ReplyDeleteDjerba is an island.
Also, traditional doesn't mean Shmiras Shabbos etc. Just ask the hundreds of thousands of frei Moroccans, Tunisians, and Algerians around the world.
Louis
ReplyDeleteI mean real Litvaks not snobby Flatbush kids driving brand new Honda Accords while learning in Kolel being supported by their ----- shvers.
in a big wide world there are genuine litvishe yiden learning in litvishe yeshives who dont like to see any jews being bashed. that is what rav povarsky gave over to his talmidim. ofcourse when someone like abovementioned smallminded people who live in a world of their own hear someone who is not full of hate to anyone - not to chassidim, not to litvaks, not to sfardim etc etc - they automatically cant beieve he learns in ponovezh.
ReplyDeleteas far as tsig is concerned - i really cant see any hate in any of his writing. i saw this blog just now and out of interest browsed through some archives. i can only see a bit of occasional sarcasm vechadoyme in relation to people that hate his group. as far as any litvaks, galitzianer, ingarishe etc who are nice to everyone - he writes very positive things about them.
my only criticism of tsig is that when he writes nice things about his group or negative things about haters he knows that he will provoke a sea of hatred from the likes of hymie and the infamous anonymous.( i still dont see what makes them upset - do they expect him not to praise the hashkofo or rebbe he chose to follow and to agree with all the hatred?) so he should either not provoke them or not print the venom which he provoked.
As usual the Tzigs logic leaves a lot to be desired.
ReplyDeleteHe argues with a poster about where exactly R'Pinson lived:Let us say he lived in Tunis:Why did he live there?Because there are Jews there! How did Jews live in P.L.O territory?Apparently the Tunisian goverment made sure there were no problems.
So we are back to square one:While living in Tunis may not have been easy , calling it 'risking his life all the time' is plain old crud
the only thing that's apparent is that you're a fool.
ReplyDeletemaybe we should send you on a one-way trip to Tunisia since the good ol' Government makes sure there are no problems?

ReplyDeletelies lies and more lies. NO one cares for your spin.

More spin.
For haters and bashers and race mongers like the Chabadsker pretending to have learned in Ponovezh, this is a new low. I would have had to see it to believe it. I am the biggest ohev yisroel in the world. ITs not my fault that you are an aino yehudi.
I just don't see what the big deal is. People fight for what the want, for what they believe is right. You are glorification of this act is because you are sympathetic toward Chabad, not because it suggests something exceptionally noble. If the latter WERE the case, you CERTAINLY would have not written the way you did about certain gedolim.
ReplyDeleteStatistically, living in Kan Tzivo is tremendously more dangerous then living in Tunis.
ReplyDeleteso, can I offer you a one-way ticket to Tunis?
ReplyDeleteI hope you guys realize one thing: Tens of Thousands of Jews upped and left these "peaceful places." They had been living there for 2000 years yet saw reason to stay. Yes, I know you'll say they overreacted, easy for you to say 40 years later. The ones that stayed were mostly those that could not leave; the poor and the elderly.
The hate towards Lubavitch distorts your view towards everything, even a noble life of teaching Torah and saving Yiddishkeit.
Way to go guys.
Not to me, but you can offer a ticket to anyone living in Kan Tzivo and if they care for "venishmartem" they should immediately pick up and fly to Tunis.
ReplyDeleteWhat does the hate towards anyone or anything has to do with it ? It's a fact of life and criminology.
Nobody is belittling his great merits. It is very nice that Russians went to Morocco and Tunis and taught locals how to remain Jewish. But none of them got shot in process, while plenty of yiddelech got shot in Kan Tzivu; now what ?
Now we see Soviet experiments taking its toll.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way any of these people would go anywhere if not for their experience in the Motherland.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how you came to that decision, but is that supposed to diminish the accomplishment? what about youngsters today traveling to far-away places, is that also the Motherland affect?
ReplyDeleteInteresting, out of league comments on a straightforward appreciation of someone who has passed away.
ReplyDeleteIn regard to the safety of Tunis - we have a non observant family friend who travels to Tunis on business. He doesn't dare to visit Shuls or identify as a Jew because he feels that is is too dangerous.
All of this is besides the point - Rabbi Pinson and his family brought Jewish life and hope to the Jews of Tunis at great personal sacrifice. As a family member, I am aware of numerous death threats and incidences that occurred over the years -yet this never deterred the Pinsons from bringing Torah observance to Tunisia.
Help me understand what the difficulty with this is? Clearly - Rabbi Pinson's lifestyle is out of reach and beyong the understanding of most of us. Nevertheless, we can value the devotion and sacrifice of a fine man, recognizing that perhaps we would not choose or survive such an ordeal. The ultimate commentary is on our commitment, and our Ahavat Yisroel - certainly not Rabbi Pinsons!
I personally appreciate the sacrifice a brilliant doctor or lawyer makes when he stays up late into the night--even early into the morning--learning so that he can know the Torah cold, sacrificing physical comforts and pleasures of this world for the next.
ReplyDeleteBut that is just me.
Kiruv in Tunis is a big thing, but let's not forget what is ikkar.
I personally only know one lawyer who really kills himself this way. A young guy, lives in Lakewood, working as in-house counsel for a large real estate company. Why aren't there more of those?
You don't have to shlep to Tunis or the Bermuda Triangle to do Kiruv to be a hero. You can stay up in the Beis Medrash, fighting against the lures of materialism, vanity and superficiality (not to mention exhaustion) and bask in the glory of the Torah.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if we have to venerate someone for choosing a certain lifestyle. Why is there a community in Tunis? Why have THEY not moved? There are a lot of gedolei acharonim--I can think of two of the top of my head--who maintain that "kiruv" should be done in the beis medrash, not by mingling with the those who need help and running after them. Even though the impact would be less in numbers, the eichus would mean alot more this way. I know the rebbe disagreed with this, but I don't think he was in the majority with respect to his kiruv initiative.

ReplyDeletewhat an insane comment. we're speaking of a community that's been there for 200 years, if not more. There was no reason to move when he arrived, and many couldn't do it even if they wanted to. So we should allow thousands of Yidden to go without Chinuch and other necessities just because you can't be bothered to leave your Bais Medrish? Would you say the same if it was your family stuck there?!
I would maintain the position of many gedolei acharonim who don't think much of your question.
