Rav Morgenstern wrote a nice Mamar against the mother of all Marans, Rav Shach's shita regarding Kabala is not limud hatorah, in Eitz chaim (Bobov Remad)I saw it a long time ago, if you can locate it, It would be very important to post it for Achinie Bnie Yotzei Lita (Magayar)

(i think, cuz he looks the same)
He went to Gateshead and Heichal Hatorah, both Litvishe yeshivas. He is from Golders Green i think, not Stamford Hill, and did not come f

  7. He is a Kotzker Einikel.

Interesting to note he was in NY for less than 48 hours, so obviously a trip to the Ohel was the most important place for him to visit.

Certainly not to Yoel Roth in Willi or MohoRash in Boro Park.

He doesn't need the picture opportunities and most Rebbes could not come close to his level of avoda and

He has a depth and yedias hatorah that is hard to match and if you read his torahs he puts it in a level that you can take in your every day, that puts all the Erlanger, Tvi Meyers to shame and shows how shallow they are.

If he wasn't the son of a clean shaven businessman he would be one of the biggest Rebbes today, assuming there are enough people looking for toichen and read hardworking avoda....

No wonder he went to the ohel, where the Rebbe was also of non-Rebbish origins, demanded hard avoda and learning chassidus and farft un the Chagas / Hungarian / Aguda megushamdike kreizen....

Sometimes I think "we" have reached the nadir of being technocratic dunces, but there's always absurd surprises to be experienced!

i meant to mention earlier that i was quite gladdened to see that you are upfront about dealing with the rebbe being, oif yener velt. unlike many of your co-religionists who hedge... vda"l

  13. "No wonder he went to the ohel, where the Rebbe was also of non-Rebbish origins",

not of rebbish origins? do u know which rebbe we are talking about?

  14. The Rebbe was not of Rebbishe origins....he was of the family but he had no contact with a functioning Rebbe in his lifetime until he became engaged to the Frierdiker Rebbe's daughter so ....not of a Rebbishe upbringing....he was not raised a 'banshak'

Secondly his father arranged from a very young age (six I think) a secular studies tutor to teach him language, math, science etc...who was not a shomer torah umitzvois, so he was not being groomed to become a Rebbe.

That is what non-Rebbishe origins means.

It gave the Rebbe a background and insight no Rebbe raised in a Rebbishe hoif would have had.....not like the olden days of chassidus where the Rebbe was the poorest and had it hard, so they could relate to the shvere matzev of their chassidim....

Make of it what you will.....Reb Itche Meir is the real deal.....he is so straight, they would love to condem him but he gives them no opening and none could match his ydias hatorah especially in nistar....

Tell me one Rebbe today you would call a gadol bnistar....and I mean a gadol, not someone who says a nice torah once a week....

The Toldos Aharon Rebbe admits to learning Chassidus Mevueres....

"he had no contact with a functioning Rebbe in his lifetime until he became engaged to the Frierdiker Rebbe's daughter so"
I never heard a more ludicrous statement then yours.Being a SIL of a Rebbe for 30 years and being involved with him on a daily basis even in the far flung Paris and Berlin, and printing all his Mamorim and letters with your footnotes, is historic in hiskashrus between rebishe families, It is all documented in 300 letters and Reshimoth.

  20. Is he a candidate to be the new Chabad rebbe ?
C"mon the rebbe was of Rebbische origins. A recht eynikel of the Alter Rebbe Zemach Zedek.
Banshak - this concept does not exist in Lubavitch.
But I am certain R. Levik knew who he was and where he came from.
Chabad rebbes in later times only did shidduchim with gvirim (Horenstein 2X, Gourary, Ginzberg) and cousins (too numerous to elaborate), lomdus, chassiduth, and yichus from otehr dynasties did not count. so why did the Rayaatz take the ramash as the chasan hamelech ?

how would you know what went on in russia? all the dynasties of chabad are extinct for the last 80 years, besides lubavitch...

    who was the rebbes shadchan?

My rebbe from ST.Peresburg, reb Rfoel NImoidin zal, slept in the same room as Lubavitcher Rebbe, when he (Lubavicher Rebbe) came to date his wife in St.Petersburg.There was a shadchan, do not worry :)

  28. As for whether the Rebbe was raised Rebbish or not -- at the first farbrengen of his (future) FIL that the Rebbe attended (5683 I think), the Rayatz turned to the Ramash and said (I paraphrase): "Ay s'a shod az du host nisht gekent dem Taten." etc. (BTW, unlike the Rashag, who was a Tomim noch dertsu...)

As for who was the Rebbe's shadchen -- some say it was Reb Elye Chaim Althoiz. I think there is a story of his son (Binke?) in the early years of the Rebbe's nesiyus of coming to mon shadchones from the Rebbe in the form of a farbrengen. Can someone confirm/clarify this?

  30. I dont understand why lubavitch propganda sites refer to rav morgenstern, shlit"a as the talmid muvham of maran. I am unaware of any evidence that rav morgenstern, shlit"a even learned by him.

In any case, it is very interesting that he went there for several reasons. There are several great tzadikim buried in America, I can only assume that he arrived via JFK and this tzion was the best he can get before he went wherever he had to go.

  31. Yoni

    1) they're not Lubavitch sites, propaganda or otherwise. It's from BeChadrei Charedim

    2) They're not referring to Rav Morgenstern, but rather to another man standing there, by the name of Porush.
