At any and every "atraction" that rolls into town, you will see scores of gerrers. Both out of boredom and of interest.
ReplyDeleteand that answers the question, Moshe Moshel?
ReplyDeleteYes, the gerrers are trying to apeal to the mivakshim so called, to find their kicks in ger. Instead of at skulen rachmastrivke chabad and lelov.
ReplyDeleteKluger breslov tzvi mayer....
Your great teacher chaim shoulson had a post about it on one of his many blog lately, I actually have seen it at many a venue.
ReplyDeleteI hear.
ReplyDeleteexcuse me? take that back.
ReplyDeleteHow is ger different than spinka? Other that spinka has a weekly tish and ger has not even that..
ReplyDeleteI was referring to you making me a talmid of CS.
ReplyDeleteif the sheep would only stay by those 4 chapters....
ReplyDeleteMy son told me that the best shiurim in Tanya he ever heard were in Yeshivat Kerem B'Yavneh by HaGaon Rav Mendel Blachman. I asked him why, and he said because he was able to explain everything especially through contrast and comparison with other Sifrei Kodesh, amongst which the Nefesh HaChaim was prominent. Educationally, this is a most attractive approach. I'm not sure the Lubavitcher Rebbe would have agreed, but I've often found that in shiurim the best expositors of Chabad (or indeed anything) are those who are ALSO well versed in other Seforim.
ReplyDeleteThe woodridger gaon is proficient in comparison and chilukim In. Tanya and nefesg hachaim. He knows 'em both cold.
ReplyDeleteThe very simple reason why Tanya has to be "chasidishized" is because todays Chabad are seen,by the traditional chasidic groups at least,as being "modern", not "chasidish" as they understand it, which means conservative dress ,etc, which chabad does not do.
ReplyDeleteYou should really be asking yourself why chabad is perceived as such bu non chabad chasidim.
The average sheltered chosid from Willy,Boro Park, sees a chabadnik, with his modern dress code, lack of yiddish speaking ability, jeans etc as not being chasidic

the Lubavicher rebbe believes in a open society, he had no problem that it should be taught that way or that way.
RE, Tanya Nefesh Hachaim, the subject was discussed at length in Hichel Habesht ... you can find it in some Libraries

so you believe that the Alte Rebbe that has no parallels to some Sfas emes is not charidie looking.... you need the Sfas Emes to put it on a Shtriemel..
Can a Gerer chosid who speaks hebrew or english do the Job of charadization of the Modern book Tanya.. I dont think we can trust him, it has do be done by the editors of Der Blatt and Der Yid..
Chabad is the only heder that teaches only loshon kodesh no secular subjects.Oholei Torah, the Rebbes heder. Not even Satmar. All Chabad grads of Oholei Torah speak Yiddish
ReplyDeleteWhat a chutzpa to say Chabad is modern
This is the Gerrer approach to undo the lubavtich pipe dream that there is such a thing as Shalsheles HuOir,
ReplyDeleteThe satmer approach is Nishtakech Toras HaBal Shem,
union ave, bist naarish?
ReplyDeleteCheck out all the chabad mosdos worldwide and see how many teach in yiddish.
OT wouldn't be 5% of chabad talmidim
right, Malach, Lubavitch has no shalsheles, it goes from the Tzemach Tzedek to Avrohom Ber to Yankel Schorr to Meir Weberman..... and then maybe to Nechemia too....
ReplyDeleteAvrohom Ber! Is that how a chosid writes on someone the Rashab entrusted with teaching his son!?
ReplyDeleteexactly how.
ReplyDelete"pheh!
ReplyDeleteAvrohom Ber! Is that how a chosid writes on someone the Rashab entrusted with teaching his son!?"
obviously your foot never steped on the Klamke of chassidus... being called with no Reb.. is a badge of honor... if someone needs the Reb..... then he his a Yesh... trief as Avoda Zora
Laider, most melamdim in Oholei Toireh yeshiveh ktaneh teach now in English.

Whats the garatchke ? if you believe in the efficacy of the Tanya so whats wrong with teaching it any way. In Israel a group of chashuve Chardal people-rabbonim have translated and were mevaer the Sfas Emes and published it. The Gerer Rebbe shlit'a was hesitant to provide his support but said he was not aginst it as long as it was not aimed at Gerer people. Is this aimed at Lubavitcher No !
ReplyDeleteI can add that Lubavitch has all sorts of projects aimed at spreading their derech under many disguises and that raises no protest from anyone ! Some of this projects are klomarst to spread chassiduth. I suspect that the new yeshiva in Brooklyn Etz Chaim is one of these projects. Maybe I am cheyshed beksherim ?
you are חושד בכשרים, although I don't like the sound of it. They broke away from Gan Yisroel, which is under Lubavitch hanholoh, but not for ideological reasons.
ReplyDeleteWasn't the Malachi. Rayatz's Melamed?
ReplyDelete"Avrohom Ber! Is that how a chosid writes on someone the Rashab entrusted with teaching his son!?"

"exactly how."

Hirshele'h leiben,
Maybe you grow up and stop being a partisan chaider yingel?
You say childish partisan things and than get angry when people say you are on kool-aid and are a paid p.r hack for lubavitch.
" I suspect that the new yeshiva in Brooklyn Etz Chaim is "
ReplyDeleteIf you are talking about the break off from gan yisroel new place, I don't think it's an underground lubob place, even gan yisroel, run by ginzy, is not really doing anything as a lubob missionary place.
Shneour,
what do u say about alter metzgers son buying a 42 million building on 5th ave?

I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing. There is a new edition of Sfas Emes published by Machin Bnei Binah which is actually an ex-Australian Belzer yungerman Shlomo Naftoli Fried.
It too wasn't approved by Ger, though it seems that the chassidim buy it beshtika..
