Your title is misleading by making it sound that the Heylige Atzey Chaim wanted stam, his einikel to know a goyishe shprach. I still didnt get an answer about the Libacitcher Rebbes Shita of not teaching english gramar to kids, is that true Hirshel?
Anon "I still didnt get an answer about the Libacitcher Rebbes Shita of not teaching english gramar to kids, is that true Hirshel?" The Rebbe was against putting in a kids head any secular studies, what dont you understand?????
Anon "Your title is misleading by making it sound that the Heylige Atzey Chaim wanted stam," what is the story according to your wishes??? that he did it for governmental reasons? please explain
Several years ago I taught English at Satmar in Williamsburg. I had a Teitelbaum, an eynikel of the Berach Moshe in my class (IIRC R' Lipa's grandson). Though most students barely knew the materials taught, the Twitelbaum kid lnew ir all, including penmanship -- as if he already knew it.
Once after class I asked him how he knew these subects so well. To which he replied matter-of-factly that his mother hired a tutor for him & his siblings to learn English & math every week...
I believe that the title is misleading.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Is it true that the Libavitcher Rebbe was against teaching english to kids?
please, Sir: what is misleading here?
ReplyDeleteIf you would read up on the history you would find out that it was mandatory to learn a language. So the title is misleading and sensationalist.
