Who is this Yakov Herzog from Czechoslovakia who so harmlessly pokes fun at Rebbes and their Shabbos tables?

He sounds like in his house they poked fun at Chassidim and their Rebbes. A nice Oyberlender Yingelle whose parents dreaded that he become one of them.

  4. He thinks it's R'Herzog who helped save the Satmar & Belzer Rebbes.
    he wasfrom Lomza,I don't think that's Oyberland
can't be Saul Bellow's Herzog because he was Moshe Herzog and he used that name after a minor character in James Joyce's Ulysses also Moshe Herzog.
James Joyce was Irish so he probably named it after the Chief rabbi of Ireland

  7. It's not Herzog from Lomza/Leeds/Paris/Ireland/Palestine

Rabbi Herzog was born in Łomża, Poland, the son of Liba Miriam (Cyrowicz) and Joel Leib Herzog. He moved to the United Kingdom with his family in 1898, where they settled in Leeds. His initial schooling was largely at the instruction of his father who was a rabbi in Leeds and then later in Paris.[2]

After mastering Talmudic studies at a young age, Yitzhak went on to attend the Sorbonne and then later the University of London, where he received his doctorate. His thesis, which made him famous in the Jewish world, concerned his claim of re-discovering Tekhelet, the type of blue dye once used for the making of Tzitzit.[3]

Rabbi Herzog served as rabbi of Belfast from 1916 to 1919 and was appointed rabbi of Dublin in 1919. A fluent speaker of the Irish language, he supported the First Dáil and the Irish republican cause during the Irish War of Independence, and became known as "the Sinn Féin Rabbi". He went on to serve as Chief Rabbi of Ireland between 1922 and 1936, when he immigrated to Palestine to succeed Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook as Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi upon his death.

  10. After the Holocaust, Rabbi Yoel also turned his back on all those who had helped to rescue him. After settling in Palestine in 1946, he refrained from expressing any gratitude to the people and institutions that had been instrumental in his rescue and had endeavored to obtain certificates for him, among them Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Herzog, Agudath Israel leaders Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Levin and Rabbi Moshe Porush, and Ha-Mizrahi’s Rabbi Joseph Yitzhak Rotenberg. He scathingly attacked the institutions they headed and, unlike other Hasidic rebbes they helped rescue, refused to make even the slightest symbolic gesture of gratitude. Moreover, it seems he repudiated his benefactors on a personal level, too. As far as we know, Rabbi Yoel never sent any letters of gratitude or appreciation to any of the people or institutions involved in his rescue.

I can believe the Satmar Rebbe the most humblest person since Moshe rebinie, should pride himself, you are a hidden enemy of RJT..
is it not ironic he did not want to be helped by the big goan and tzadik rav herzog but was helped by a Rosha in the category of moridin veloi malin, kastner..
    Es asher timasi tiharti ......
if the Satmar ruv did not want to be helped by the Zionist, then why did he build a case against the Zionist for not helping the Jews in Europe.....maybe they knew he does not want their help so theuy put their effory to some other project.....

So far nobody produced a other savior for the baal Veyoel moshe Zt"l other then he Zionist Kastner, (with a dream or without a dream) but Kastner.
Did Satmar Ruv approve gay rights because Satmar institutions were semi funded by the liberal NYC government who promotes and enforces every Maseh Nevuleh.
