Photos from BeChatzreys HaChassidim
The shul was recently restored to look like it did in the old days, with a modernized look of course. Which reminds me of a conversation I overheard about recent attempts by elements within the Snag community to paint the Besh"t as someone who Poshut didn't know how to learn. These guys think that a RaM in a Yeshivah in New Jersey, who "learned by Reb Berel", really could dissect a Shtikkel Gemoroh better than the Kodesh HaKodoshim. Zol zei voyl Bakimmen. As if the Maggid of Mezritch and the Toldos Yaakov Yosef would ever join the ranks without the basis for it all being Torah. Which leads me to believe that serious brain damage is what's in these days. The more damaged you are, the higher up the totem pole you are.

I take it you refer to R' Boruch Ber of Kaminetz.
ReplyDeleteWhich reminds me, I recently heard from his ur-eynikel, R' Leizer Lichtshtein of Yerushalayim (his father was R"Y, and he personally became Lubavitch) -
that there were several p'rotim which didn't make it to the sefer on him ("Harav Hadoneh L'Malach"). One being, that he was named such, having been born on 19 Kislev, and Ber for the Maggid whose yortzeit was then, as well as Boruch for R' Boruch Mezhibuzher.
(He gradeh didn't came from such an "anti" background as well).
C'mon Tzig, this is old stuff. They are fed this, don't care one way or another, so why shouldn't they just accept it and move on?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of the exact unbiased background, but after "Derech Tzadikim" (I don't recollect the director's name) renovated many of the Tziyunim in the Ukraine and more - Dovid Nachshon started (in pen at least, in KC about 6 years ago) protesting their "stealing" of his work of repairing the k'vorim. He even went on to say how there were various p'rotim (even certain hora'os from the Rebbe?) involved and other that they'd ignored.
ReplyDeleteAnyone remember the points brought in the KC then (IIRC, it was "Kor'im Kosvim" after one displaying the new Ohel of the Besht on the cover)? Or to fill in on this in general?
D Nachshon put the old-new Matzeyvoh on the Besht's Kever, does that make him the Baal HaBos? I think not. Maybe if he were more busy repairing Kevorim, and less busy crowning Moshiach we'd be better off today.

ReplyDeleteWho mentioned R'Boruch Ber
Leibowitz??
The R'Berl mentioned was R'Berl Soloveitchik z'l son of the Brisker Rov.
C'mon, Tzig, you Lubab friends have no idea about olom hayeshivos!
(besides for everything else, R'Boruch Ber died about 67 years ago, so very few talmidim are around, and R'Shoul Brus shlit'a one of the few needs a refuem shleimo )
I never mentioned Reb BBL, so that came as a surprise, but who says that was a Lubavitcher making that comment?
ReplyDeleteI did mean Reb Berel Soloveitchik.
Tzig
ReplyDeleteYou really think anon 12:51 is not a Lubavitcher??Lol.
It's classic Lubavitcher ignorance about other krayzen, something you know of quite well (but never comment upon, for some reason....)You are one of the few Lubavitcher and chasidim bichlal who has a well rounded knowledge about the Frum velt.(I guess growing up non Lubab has pluses after all)
A few months ago, I was zocheh to visit Ukraine, davening at the Tziyunim of the Besht, R' Nachman and R' Levi Yitzchok MiBerditchev. I also went to this new remake of the Besht's shul seen in the pictures, which is mamash right next to where the Bach's shul was.
ReplyDeleteWe also davened at Babi Yar, where the Nazis Yemach Shemom V'zichrom wiped out 30,000 yidden in 3 days. I recommend any Yid to go to these places, its very worthwhile and jolts us all into the real world.
>>These guys think that a RaM in a Yeshivah in New Jersey, who "learned by Reb Berel", really could dissect a Shtikkel Gemoroh better than the Kodesh HaKodoshim. Zol zei voyl Bakimmen.
ReplyDeleteAnd he probably can.
>>As if the Maggid of Mezritch and the Toldos Yaakov Yosef would ever join the ranks without the basis for it all being Torah.
Of course they could have--they could have made a mistake. There is a reason why the vast establishment did not join the then small cult of ignorant bandits who disrespected the Rabbinic world and gedolei hador.
The above history ignorant and foolish man is not me. Although he is certainly an ass of enormous proportions.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm,
ReplyDeleteThe above comment was not made by me. I, obviously, know my history very well. Those who argue with me on the issues I posited on the post CLEARLY have issues. The other individual, posing as Hmmm, may his name be blotted out ofrever, is clearly the ass. And judging from previous threads, I am not the only one who thinks so.
Asswipe.
this is getting out of hand, as well as downright repetitive. The profanity, as light as it may be, is also not helpful here. Stop it, all of you.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult not to accord Hmmm with the appropriate level of derision that he deserves. Out of respect to you, I will try to cool it. For now.
ReplyDeleteTzig, it's only a chabadsker blog, nivul peh is muttar. Intervegens... Since when is hatred "light"?
ReplyDeleteIt is very difficult for snags not to further snag themselves in sheol tachtis arein. But some of them manage to save themselves. Yeshuas Hashem K'Heref Ayin.
Spoke to a grabson of RBBL who laughed his head off when he heard the claim RBBL was name after the Maggid. And since he was born in Slutsk, one of the four citys of 'Karpas" that has no chassidim what so ever, I find it hard to beleive to say the least!!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that "renovation" in Mezhbuzh (not of the old shul, but of the ohel) destroyed a big part of the ancient beys hachaim (how else they could build such a huge ohel?). With the fact that the Baal Shem Tov was against any ohel altogether, one can wonder if he would approve of such a thing...
ReplyDeleteLook here for some photos of the restoration of the old shul: http://bahaltener.livejournal.com/4128.html
Maybe what "a yid" 12:15 said - has to do with DN's renovations, which he's so mad about the DC (I still don't recollect the reasons brought in KC then)?

Twisty 11:45 -
That's what LL told me; I'm just quoting. (He had other p'rotim as well, which he didn't get into at the time).
HaMotzi M'chaveiroi.. - so go fight it out your teiynos with him in Yerushalayim! I'm sure it'll be quite an experience..
a yid
ReplyDeletewho's the Yid in the picture from 1930?
I don't know who that is.
ReplyDeleteTheres a story with the Baba Sali who really gave to somone who claimed that the Vilna Gaon was greater then the Besht in learning...
