In other words, lack of criticism may be a sign that you're not taking enough risks, but criticism is no sign at all that you're right. Maybe they're yelling at you to turn around because you're driving the wrong way on the highway and you're about to get crushed by a semi-trailer.
The reason I chose this quote, which appeared on my google home page, was to show us an interesting fact. The fact that certain people do not get criticized, I mean Rabbonim, Roshei Yeshiva, and the like is simply because they say nothing, they just stick to the outline, they trace along the already outlined picture. They do everything their father or rebbe did, and nobody can complain as long as they do that. A perfect example would be the Skverer rebbe, G-d bles him, he does everything just like his father did, so he's covered. Little Divrei Torah pass his lips, since his father didn't say Torah, so nothing can be taken apart. That's good for the most part, we're obviously not condoning mass deviation of Torah ways, just taking certain burning issues, that were not covered by previous generations, and judging them in their current context.
