Wow, a letter from the Rebbe's son-in-law and sucsessor about how great the Chabad Rebbes are. Why am I not impressed. You realize that every chassidus/group could/would right the same thing about their leader.
that's where you're mistaken. Most Rebbes son'in-law would NEVER write such words, not even generations back. The Rebbe was probably the first to write extensively on subjects such as these, presumably because he thought that just passing it on verbally would not be sufficient.
Very impressive. But I would be even more impressed if I were presented with a letter from the Rebbe talking not about what the role of the Nasi Chabad was and IS , but what the future of Chabad leadership should be and perhaps a letter aimed at preserving the spiritual, organizational, and historical unity of the Chabad movement.such a letterd ated Gimmel tammuz would be truely amazing !

Gimel Tamuz! Wow!
By then I'm sure he knew he was going to be the Rebbe. So he sure was giving himself a hefty job description when he wrote it!!
did he know? that can be debated.

A certain Rebbe once critisized this element of Chabad saying:
"Bi intz iz a Rebbe a Rebbe un Chassidim zeinin Chassidim, ober in Chabad di Rebbes reden vi Chassidim"
why is that a bad thing? (Rebbes talking vi chassidim?)
HT,
Perhaps they wouldn't write about the Hiskashrus in such a manner, but the general praise? Is that so unique?
