On the 16th of Tammuz, 50 years to the day of the passing of the Reb Avrohom Yehoshua Heschel of Kopysznic, zt"l, there was a Yohrtzeit seudah - as there is every year - at the inconspicuous shtiebel. I'd guess that many, mnay native Boro Parkers couldn't tell you where it is.  Most people who attended didn't know that there would be a הכתרה.  Some 42 years after the passing of his son (HaTomim) Reb Moshe Mordche, the shtiebel on 55th Street has a Rebbe again! Reb Zushe, second son of Reb Moshe Mordche, and a "yungerman" who's ראוי לאותו איצטלא. They say it was at the behest of their cousin, the mashpia Reb Nussy Gurary, son of Reb Zalman, who was married to Chava, daughter of RAYH. He got up and spoke and basically said that the time has come for Reb Zushe to accept the responsibility. He had been doing it in an unofficial capacity, but now it's signed and sealed. They say it'll be more אפטא than רוזשין. All that's left for us to say is:

I find it hard to decide what the reaction should be to the implosion at Shas. Rather, the implosion of Aryeh Deri's Shas party. Some Lubavitchers like the idea of Eli Yishai because it gives them a viable option to the Marzel/whatever party that never crosses the line and makes the cut. Others like the idea that Yishai would most likely be more right wing than Shas had become under Deri, which we see now that Rav Ovadia himself now blames Deri for Oslo! That would allow at least 4 MKs to vote against whatever the leftists are planning once they take over. Until now Shas voted as a bloc. The general frum opinion is that Shas is better united because it allows for a stronger bloc against the Bayit HaYehudis and Yair Lapids of the world.

There are pictures of the seudas haChasunah, but this seems to be the kabbolas ponim, and it seems like it's a פרסום ראשון - at least in the blogosphere. It's hard to be a פרסום ראשון when it's already online. Right, standing, is Reb Binyomin Levitin, o"h. Seated second from right is the Kopycznitzer Rebbe. Next to him is RaSHaG, the chosson, Reb Eli Chaim Carlebach speaking to his shver Reb Zalman Schneerson, The Rebbe, Reb Lazer Silver, Reb Moshe D. Rivkin, RY of Yeshivah Torah Vodaath. The bochur'l behind the Rebbe is Sholom Ber Gorodetzki. The bearded man second from left is Moshe Pesach Goldman. Seated across RMDR and RLS is Reb Mordche Groner, father of Rabbi Yitzchok Groner and  יבלחט"א Leibel. Reb Zalman was a first cousin to the Rebbe's father. His father Reb Mendel was Reb Boruch Schneur's brother. The wedding took place, IIRC, on ט"ו אדר תש"ט in New York. The Ponovizher Rov also attended, as can be seen here:

Rav Ruderman's 25th Yohrtzeit

The (Chabadsker Yingel cum) Slabodker Talmid who founded and became the Rosh Yeshiva of  Ner Israel in Baltimore is seen right, with glasses, with Rav Moshe Feinstein left, [Rabbi Zakheim,?] the Kopycniczer Rebbe, Reb Moshe Mordche, holding the becher. Quite "malchus'dig," I might add. RYYR passed away on this day in 5747/1987. The picture is sometime between 1967, when the old Kopycniczer passed away, and 1975, when RMMH passed away בדמי ימיו, in 1975. The Rebbishe benkel has been vacant ever since.
