He and his older brother יבלחט"א Lipa both came to America after WWII and settled in Cleveland.

Okay, I stand corrected. It's still interesting that he is called 'hagaon'. How many 'librarians' are called 'hagaon'? I guess R. Reuven Margolis z"l was in that league as well.

Was Reb Avrohom Y. Shapiro his father or uncle or what ?

I see from your notes he was not his father.
My uncle Rabbi Schneur Zalman Kurenitzer (masghgiach in Nevel)(Alperowitz, Alpert, Halperin) was married to Reb Levi Yitzchak's sister. They and their 2 children (the son was Yitzchok Michoel) died of starvation in the siege of Leningrad.My uncle lived in Pushkin where I gather the whole Shapiro family resided.
My uncle also refused to leave Leningrad on Shabbas even though most Anash left on Shabbes due to Pikuach Nefesh. This was related to me by R. Shia Gofin of Kefar Chabad.
