The sign may be the reason...
It's a shtikkel problem with Heimishe businesses. They cry about people going to the big department stores or buying online, but they do nothing to change their policies. Look at that big ugly sign right behind the cashier. yuk. At least make it less conspicuous, so that I don't think twice or three times about buying in your store. My G-d! It looks like a disclaimer before a risky operation or a non-FDA approved drug. I realize that it's a small out-of-town community, but still. Isn't it supposed to be a "shlichus" venture? Try and be a little nicer and you'll see how business will improve.

Nit emes.
Ask anyone who sells retail how hard people try to take advantage of them. I was in a bookstore a few weeks ago when a person asked if they can return an unused book they bought two years ago! I asked in how many years he's gonna bring back his choson shas...
We all know about people using walmart as a gemach r"l, the chilul Hashem is great. If small stores had similar policies, they'd be no less abused.
This is a very strange post. What's your problem exactly? The store is closing so all the sales are final. This is very standard. If the store is closed, where would returns be made anyway? Presumably the sign is only there because they're closing. You're really kicking the horse while it's down.
You should take post down.
Genius, these are the closing down signs
I'd venture to guess that the sign was there before the closing too.
ask Costco how many people take advantage of their VERY liberal return policy
You have to be a member at Costco so you eliminate fulltime purchase returners.
Dito: Genius, these are the closing down signs
they let goats into costco?
only seeing-eye goats
I personally witnessed at a Costco where a Chassidishe lady returned some food close to the expiration date and heard the clerk ask her coworker as to why it is only these people who consistently return food close to the expiration date for credit. ON the other hand, I have seen many frum people act quite politely and courteously with the store's employees. You cannot generalize
First of all, St. Louis is not such a small community and second of all Rabbi Rubenfeld is a very nice man, no need to be harsh on him.
