We Totally missed the point!

Much ado is made of the Rebbe saying that we're the Dor Hashvi'i and Kol Hasvi'in Chavivin, that's the easy part. What we don't publicize is what the Rebbe said after the Maymer;

Fast forward 40 years to 28 Nissan 5751,

did the Rebbe get what he wanted?

The words are classical Lubavitch (Chabad), yet a short time later things changed and as they say in Israel -begadol -!

excuse my words, but I find it strange that you sit on the sidelines and "observe" Chabad based on storybooks and "elter elter-uncles". You then make decisions and assumptions based on zichronos and stories. but then you toot the horn of the modern-orthodox as well as zionists. You can't have it all.

We can think that it changed because the Rebbe started sending out Yungeleit soon after. The truth is not so, because throughout the years the message was always the same, with Limud HaTeyre the main point. The Rebbe suspected the Eylem right away by saying that you'll want to go Ish tachas gafney etc. It seems like for the most part his suspicions were NOT unfounded.

You are starting to understand my shita. I do not belong to a party.I do not need to have a knee jerk defense of my party or a Pavlovian response to my party's enemies. I can see the fine things about Chabad (and I am not a professional Chabad basher)I certainly see fine things about MO world yes even the Zionists are doing good work,did they not create a state that rescued millions of Jews so are the Satmarer,(they preserved our traditional Levush, Yiddish and the Jewish derech haChaim of east Europe) so are the Bobover, so are Lakewood (their tremendous Tore learning). \By the way I have never used family member stories to knock Chabad just the opposite.
In addition my friend ! I attended a school run by Chabad for 9 years davened in a shul whose rabbi claimed to be a tamim for 15 years attended dozens of farbrengungs at 770 with the Rebbe .
Is my "chisaron" that I am not a fund raiser for Thailand or a PR person for travelling speakers about Kabbalah !
Its a strange communication , whose tone is the opposite of the openess to all Jews marked by the behavior and teachings of the late rebbe. It is derisive of the use of mesoras avosaynu to learn a mase rav.
You can have it all. there is no need to be a sectarian Jew, all derachim have posative sides and we all can learn from them. The MO world can learn from the Yeshiva world and does, the Satamr people can learn from the Aguda, and yes the greatest apikorsus, it would not hurt the Anshei Chabad to read Hirsch, Soloveitchik, Dr. Isaac Breuer, Rav Kuk and rav Hutneramongst other thinkers of the alst 100 years.
