יארצייט: הגאון רבי חיים מרדכי קאטץ ע"ה, ר"י טעלז-קליוולאנד - 50 שנה

As a child of a talmid of Reb Mottel, I grew up hearing stories and vertlach about him. Then, when the Alumni Association starting sending out the tapes I would often listen to them. As a child it was difficult to listen to, with the accent not being what I was used to, but I got used to it. I may not relate to him like a shtikkel Yated, with all the cliches, but Reb Mottel, who was not a כהן, has a special place in my heart. You might call it Litvak royalty. The world could have used more good Litvaks like him, but sadly Hitler and the Litwaukees yms"h all but wiped them out. It's ironic and sad that none of his, nor any of Reb Elya Meir's descendants are currently in any leadership positions in the Yeshiva that they built with the sweat of their brows.

Dovy j,
I am a grandson of Rav Eliezer Levi and do not believe that is him in the picture. Rav Levi is currently in the hospital fighting for his life and in great need of Rachmei Shmayim. Please Daven for Reb Eliezer Ben Gelah. Did you learn in Telz?

His real name is Eliezer, though everyone refers to him as Elozor or Lozor.

as opposed to Reb Elozor Menachem Schach, who was known as Reb Lazer.

It is Ironic that there is no zecher in the Yeshiva of Rav Eliyahu Meir, Rav Mottel Katz, Rav Boruch Sorotzkin or Rav Mottel Gifter. Who would have thought that Rav Aizik's mishpacha is whats left, RADG - who actually is a talmid of RACL from Chicago.

Telz is a sad story. The original founders were real gedolim. when they were gone the fighting started. like cats and dogs. endlessly.
Look at the kids now, so many of them are a bunch of loosers...

Theres a real lesson here: The next time you fight, think ahead. will I be better off after this fight, or will I be better now if I give in?

The problem is that the Telzer derech of neatness and seder is not in style anymore, the world is more casual theses days and Bochurim are ambarrased infront of their Chasideshe counterparts to look neet and put together they feel cool looking Yeshivish , shlumpy and living in dormitory rooms that look and smell like Garbage cans
