I see that my secrets aren't so secret! It seems to have some truth, but it's hard to say, because there are many types of sphardim and I am not sufficiently familar with them all. There are cultural differences for sure, and it does seem that Sephardim are more comfortable with G-d than Ahskenazim, etc...
I would think that there would be some research into this, given that it's perhaps the most striking variable in the Jewish world, but I haven't seen any.
