Two months after they met at the Hospital Yellin-Mor passed on. Jacobson opened the envelope soon after and found an article, ready for publication, and a note thanking Gershon for allowing him the opportunity to publish his articles in the Algemeiner. He also asks that he publish the article enclosed therein under his name, which Gershon did. The style was very dramatic; Yellin-Mor was a master and knew how to make a very good point, no matter what the topic. The article started as follows:
"I'm no longer on this Earth, I am now in the shiva medurei gehennom". He then goes to describe the hellish fire that is gehenom, using a very vivid imagination, replete with a very colorful and scolding list of fires, one more colorful and frightening than the next. The reader is scared to death just from reading it. The cynic has totally lost it. He continues: "Rabbosai, I am definitely of a gehenom like the one described here. My whole life was one long fight against Hashem and his Torah. I never believed in the Afterlife, but if there is one then you know where I am now. The fires roar here. But suddenly a great light, the Or Shivas HaYomim, which corresponds to the Shiveh Medurei Gehenom, shines through the fires and reaches the lowly place where my soul finds itself. The great light smashes the mechitzeh shel barzel that seperated me from our father in heaven and conquers the depths of my essence, the pintele yid, and attempts to redeem my soul from the abyss. I believe that this great light will yet get me out of here one day. You may ask what that great light is... the light is the soul of the Manhig Yisroel UKedoshoy, The Lubavitcher Rebbe, shlit"a."
"Allow me to share with you a story that happened with me." Here he goes on to tell the story of his מוצאי ר"ה encounter with the Rebbe. If I have one zechus in my life it is that meeting with the a manhig yisroel who had such faith , not just a faith in Hashem, but a faith in Hashem that was so strong that he believed in me as well. He believed in my Yahadus and in my power to do Tshuveh. because of his faith in me, a faith that I myself did not know I posessed. because of that faith, and despiet the fact that I did not know I had it in me, I now believe that light will one day shlep me out of this blutteh and bring me to the eternal light that is getlichkeit.
A vareme grus fun gehenom."
Those were Natan's final words.

They don't make them like this anymore. What a Yiddishe neshomo.
Ragards back to him - in di lichtikeh Gan Eden.
It looks like his Rebbe in cheder gave good rieshes chochma lessons?
where is he from? Lita? Galicia? Poland? defenitley not a Ungarischer?
we mentioned that he was a Yelid Grodno
Looks like Tzig found this story in the Chersoner Genizah, with all the other babbeh mayses
BrookAve
what would happen if it all checks out, what would you do then? would your world turn upside down?
Why should my world turn upside down if it's true??
Nice story, maybe embellished, maybe not
What would happen if it checks out that the Genizah is a forgery, like everyone knows, besides you:Would your world turn upside down?

does the story irk you that much that you need to scream Forgery?
Anonymous:
Did I scream "forgery"?
Lubobs can never be proven wrong because the always rewrite history if the have any "small" problems
Shakoach Hirshel for the details, it brought tears to my eyes, the holy Belzer Rov would have the same reaction to Yalin but not so eloquently as the Rebbe
Great story.
Doesn't change a thing for me. Most people I know don't have a problem acknowledging that the rebbe was quite a chochom and knew how to inspire people like few others. Any criticism starts way after that point.
Sheesh. Why did you leave out his vivid detail of hell and pergatory? Don't you want to inspire your readers (even at the risk of being labled, by your fellow Lubabs, as an ehrlicher yid who believes in gehenim)?
Why did you leave out his vivid detail of hell and pergatory?
I'll leave that for Amnon Yitzhak
Hafledigeh Mayseh!
Is there any way of getting a copy of the article?
we're working on getting a copy.
Why work on a "copy", just make it up as you go, like the motsoei shabbes fantasy stories on 570am
SUCH an article and Jacobson brothers - (journalists ben journalists) can't find it. i am majority skeptical about this story until i see a copy of the original article.
who says they can't find it?
So Yesh Koina Oilumoi Beshoo Achas does not mean Teshuva , but an encounter that led to a write up of a newspaper article that makes light of the oinshem it awaits us if we do not do Teshuva defacto
hello? do you not think that sitting there in the hospital for two months that he had hirhurei Tshuveh?!
naarish vi di faryuredike shnay
Tzig,
Oh. Where to start. I see 21 people had a head start on me already with comments. Listen, if a Bas Kol came down telling me that this story is true it would not change one iota of any of my shittos. That being said, I think it is out and out forgery. I think that Gershon Jacobson wrote the article from his own imagination based on the meeting of the Rebbe and NYM (that part I believe). Oh, let the fun begin (and this is before tzig even wrote him commentary)
Bucho
yesh konah olomo DOES mean tshuvah. And get this, even yuphuh shuh achat etc. also means tshuva, even though the AR repeatedly stresses its escoteric meaning.
Shkoiach!

I don’t get it. Why not print it while alive. A lot easier to cast doubt on a death bed confession, printed AFTER his death. Sorry to be cynical, but it smells. Anyway, what is so inspiring/powerful to make him have such a sudden epiphany? Yes, the Rebbe was clever in his conversation, and I am sure it had an influence. But to such an extent? I smell FAKE FORGER!! I hear the Yated is publishing a death bed letter from the LR about how he now realizes Rav Shach is the true Godol hador. (Yes, I know the Rebbe didn’t die!!)

Anyone know about Amnon Yitzchak's relationship to Chabad....
I don't like pictures of him in a rolls royce staying in 5 star hotels......
He doesn't publish those so much....
Fire and hell...unless you give me and my organisation money...
What they always respect about chabad is that no Chabad shliach lives like Amnon Yitzchak.....
r amnon yitzok stopped speaking fire & brimstone 20 years ago ,is a humble person and lives in a humble home...
It is probably not a forgery. But most of you forget that the letter was writen not from gehenom but from a hospital. Read it again and you will find that the letter is a last fun making of from people.

"Lubobs can never be proven wrong because the always rewrite history if the have any "small" problems"
This seems to be a universal machle.Art Scroll, the largest Judaic publisher, does not hesitate to rewrite history if they have any "small" problems that do not fit their agenda. So sorry. This is not one more "crime" that you can pin on those "Lubob" criminals.
Yes! this article is what sets your rebbe apart from the rest of the Jewish people:
he trained everyone to give a platform to every shunu uperishnick even he makes light from everything that's holy by klall yiroel as long he acknowledges in some shape or form the supremacy of your manhig yisroel ikdoshe
its irrelevant who wrote it Yalin ,Gershon,or HT, this is the coaching that your rebbe gave to his publicist when he became too busy to do it himself
apart from
it seems to me that you're apart from any form of brain activity. That you're consumed by hate and nothing else. I feel bad for your family that undoubtedly suffers from your lack of love.
But it's probably not your fault either.
Please try to get a hold of and post the Algemeiner article where GBJ prints his letter from the beyond. Would love to see it.
What are you trying to prove with this story?
If you want to prove that the Rebbe had the ability to connect with people of all stripes, you will not have an argument from anybody
If you want people to accdept Lubavitcher as being normal despite lots of nonsense and strange stuff they do,I don't believe this will strengthen your hand
Btw, about the story:It could be true, especially the first half with the Rebbe greeting and accepting him, the last part sounds like the fairy tales I hear from Lubavitchers
Berg
"the last part sounds like the fairy tales I hear from Lubavitchers"
do you accuse lubavicher with worse fairy tales, then all the Artscroll biographer? or the 55 volume Moshian Shel yisroel on Satmar Rov?
"do you accuse lubavicher with worse fairy tales, then all the Artscroll biographer? or the 55 volume Moshian Shel yisroel on Satmar Rov?"
In one word??
Yes!
Berg
so sharp? wow? you don't give a break, can we negotiate Plz.
Hirshel
don't put in the effort to get the original, for the hate mongers it will not help anyway.
Apart from
"he trained everyone to give a platform to every shunu uperishnick even he makes light from everything that's holy by klall yiroel as long he acknowledges in some shape or form the supremacy of your manhig yisroel ikdoshe"
how exactly did you get this fact that the Rebbe Zy"a was searching every Apikores Tinuk Shenishbo or Shonu Uperash to give them platforms for writing Al Hashem Umeshichoi, if your mind is coherent enough then you will realize that he just wrote the nice words on the Rebbe Zy"a in the last words of his career. Do you really believe that the Rebbe zy"a had Ruach hakodesh tofigure that this is the way this Apikoreses life will end?
Can anyone please find that article?
why you need it? who will change his views?
In Part 2 NYM is standing witht Matisyahu Shmulevitz - one of the leaders of Lechi and one who was sentenced to death but was given life imprisonment instead - Due to the efforts of Reb Aryeh Levine ZT"L.
From the Malach Hamovies !!
