We wrote about Rabbi Elefant some ten years ago.
Check it out.
Quite the character, it seems.

גער - אחרי תש"ח
I'll go out on a limb here and say that this these pictures was for a fundraising effort for Yeshiva Sfas Emes. Otherwise, it'd be kind of strange that they posed for a picture like this by the Imrei Emes' tziyun. In those days it was still common. Today, cooler heads have prevailed. Also, photoshop works wonders, you needn't actually have a group of boys pose in front of a holy place. Many of you may know that the IE was buried in the courtyard of the Yeshiva Sfas Emes as a temporary measure, being that it was during the War of Independence and Har Hazeisim was closed no other cemetery was readily available. Once other places became available it was decided by his children not to move him.

סאסובער רבי זצ"ל
Nephew and son-in-law of the Satmar Rov - Reb Yoel. His mother was the Satmar Rov's sister. The original family name was Mayer, not Teitelbaum. He did not have children before his wife bas the Satmar Rov passed away in 5714/1954. He later remarried and had children. I came across this drawing and figured I'd post it - along with some pics for comparison. They made him look kind of like a movie character. He, unfortunately, passed away in his prime in 1966.

הנחת אבן הפינה לשכונת וולפזון בירושלים
Hi, all! Nice to be back. Sorry for the prolonged vacation. I hope to be here more often from now on.
These pics are seemingly from an expansion to the institutions of Eitz Chaim, led by the late Rabbi Yechiel Michel Tikochinsky, who of course was a great admirer of Rav Kook. As was Reb Isser Zalman Meltzer, who served as Rosh Yeshiva from 1925 until his passing in 1953.
But you knew that.
The date is probably the late 20s or early 30s.
Or maybe it's a building project? Hard to tell. The internet wasn't very helpful either.

Passing of Reb Nosson Kaminetzky, A"H (MOAG)
Yeshiva World informs us of the passing of Reb Nosson Kaminetzky, author of "Making of a Gadol," and Rosh Yeshiva at ITRI. He passed away on Shabbos Erev Shavuos at the age of 89. You wouldn't be exaggerating if you call him a revolutionary and ahead of his time. Here, we present you with two pictures of his father Reb Yankev's visit to Boys Town Jerusalem, where we see Reb Nosson accompanying his father (in the first photo.)

Old World וויזשניצער שוואנצונעס
Hirshel:
I don’t work for Reb Mendel Hager’s שוואנצונעס club, but I saw today in a book of an old Vizhnitzer chusid, Reb Yankel Valtzer, one of the old time types that L-O-V-E-D his Rebbe, saying before starting הבדלה: Bezchus the הייליגער Rebbe, bezchus the הייליגער Rebbe's kinder, הנה קל ....... I think it's his eynikel, Yankel Valtzer, that left the Mendelist camp and went over to main Bene Beraq Wizhnnitz, and was rewarded with the Mazkir Agudas Yisroel job, much to the dismay of the Mendelisten.
So there is a deep state culture from which R' Mendel is taking his ideas -----

ר' זלמן געלערנטער און קהל אנשי הרובישאוו
Reb Zalman Gelerenter was a Yid from Horibishov in גאליציע who made sure that the town was not forgotten. And davka in Crown Heights! He passed away on this day - 29 Shvat - in 5775. If you're reading this and ever visited Crown Heights you surely remember Kesser Hats on Kingston. One block from 770. We've written about Horibishov and Reb Yochonon Twersky, SIL of Reb YD of Belz, in the past. Back in this blog's heyday. And HERE. Make sure to listen to the clip posted below, where he sings a ואני type song about שיר השירים and more.

Rev. Morris Gray in E. Liverpool, Ohio wants to get home already to make Kiddush... And he has Reb Chaim Brisker on his side!
Rev. Gray says that in בריסק דליטא they would announce in all the shuls in the name of Reb Chaim that davening finish NO later than 12 o'clock NOON! I would imagine they didn't start at 9:30, true, but how early can you start already? 6:30? 7:00? Still not what goes on in some shuls today.

"Asking for a Friend"
Watch Here
Scroll down to the 10:00pm slot. It's always a ton of fun.
Maybe one day they'll ask some real questions. For now they're catering to the Harries and Larries and their ballgames and sushi. First world problems with a Flatbush Jewish twist. Maybe one day Rabbi Brudny will cross the "dreaded" line and open a chassidishe sefer - not just a sterlized piece of Sfas Emes or Reb Tzadok, but like heavy chassidus. I think he's ripe for it. I think he really wants to but he needs a helping and guiding hand. His transformation these last few years has been quite remarkable; going from a rigid איש גבורה to a much kinder, gentler person who understands the difficulties that face Jewish youth today. Rabbi Elefant is another story for another time.
