Yeshivos Hijacking Purim?
The Mishnah Berurah in סי' תרצ"ד סעיף קטן ג' brings a din that many overlook, and others do only because it’s convenient for themselves to do so.
" די לשון המחבר איז געווען "חייב כל אדם ליתן לפחות שתי מתנות לשני עניים, און די מ"ב איז מוסיף " זה מדינא, אבל באמת מוטב להרבות במתנות לאביונים מלהרבות בסעודתו.................. שאין שמחה גדולה ומפוארה אלא לשמח לב עניים ויתומים, ודומה לשכינה.....
Yeshivos somehow found it important to claim that they too are Evyonim and need the Tzedokoh. The Bochurim are fully expendable, and many Yeshivos have quotas that the Bochurim must collect.
Whatever happened to Halochoh? Why are Bocherim allowed to go to all types of homes with questionable behavior going on just to fund themselves? On whose account are these Bocherim sent there?
Why not make it mandatory for the Bocherim to participate in being Mesamech Yidden, whether collecting for Evyeynim only, or going to nursing homes, jails, or just visiting elderly and homebound Yidden and making their lives a little happier?

while you have a point, this is equally applicable to lubavitch where every bochur is collecting for this chabad house, or this mivtza, peula etc
Most Lubavitcher Bocherim go on Mivtzoyim and have no time for drinking and collecting till very late, if at all. The collecting isn't done on Purim.
Thje vast majority of bochurim from litvishe yeshivos in America collect for tzedaka funds administered by their roshei yeshiva - in other words, aniyim. Try observing the mitzva with wine instead of vodka this year, Hirsh, and listen to who exactly they're collecting for - I think you'll be surprised.
The vast majority of Bocherim collect for their own Yeshivos. Try drinking Mashkeh at the seudah and not wine all day and night, and see what stupidity can spout forth from a Yeshivisher Bocher drunk on sweet wine.
They collect for their own yeshiva's TZEDAKA FUND. That isn't the same thing at all. It's distributed to aniyim and doesn't benefit the yeshiva.
why did you delete my post??
The way you quote the MB, it sounds like there is a Chiddush in his words - the Rambam in his Yad already brings this din.
the fact taht the Rambam says something does not make it halocho, however once it is brought by the MB,,,,
CHNOICH LENAAR AL PI "DARKOI" i guess if HT quoted the rambam some of you would think it a lubavitch thing
anyway i think have the yeshiva students collect money is great it gives them a head start for whne they need to get money from their shver for kolelle
The Sineh to Lubavitch is Maavir AL HaDaaS the people here. Instead of being happy that I learned Mishnah Brurah before Purim, especially those of you that are worried about my Ruchniyus, my "opening a sefer" etc., you criticize me for not bringing the Loshon HoRambam!
You mean to say that you opened a mishna berurah not only to find something to blog about?
Happy Purim
Yes, Leo, I did!
Believe it or not.
Happy Purim!
learning MB is something the Rebbe encouraged
Great post.
Mr. Anonymous is really Mr. Naive. The yeshivos are collecting for aniyim? Who is he kidding?
The mothers are scared half to death because their teenagers are driving around (even if they have a driver) in their wine-induced stupor. This is mandated by the yeshiva. Noone has the guts to just say no. "My son will feel left out", "The other boys will make fun of him" etc.
It's disgraceful.
In my bochurishe days, I asked my Rosh Yeshiva about the chillul hashem of drunken yeshiva boys on the streets. Answer." The goyim drink a whole year"
