....שירבו כמותו בישרא-ל

Reb Avrum Banda (c) posing with Rabbis Berel (l) and Gedalia (r) Shemtov in Crown Heights today, where he and family inaugurated the new Pomegranate Shluchim SuitesGedalia founded  - together with his uncle Reb Mendel Shemtov, ע"ה, - and runs the Shluchim Office - a resource and assistance center for Shluchim - in Crown Heights, and his father Reb Berel is the Shliach to the State of Michigan, and has been since 1958. He is the son of Reb Bentche Shemtov whom we discussed in yesterday's post, and a somewhat controversial figure in Lubavitch due to his very unique style of doing mostly everything. That being said we're very proud of the fact that Reb Avrum, a Satmarer Yid, donated this beautiful facility in honor of the wonderful work that Lubavitcher Shluchim do. May Hashem bless him and his family and may they much continued success מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב עבג"צ בב"א.

I guess you are a reform with no connection to chazal, supporting a house of Harbotzas torah to millions of Jews is the biggest form of Charity (tzedoka by us Frummies), plus there is some hospitality for out of towners (Hachnosas orchim by us Frummies)

Tzig,

I challenge you to find one, even one, instance of the opposite taking place. When you say Sheyerbu it always mean the one direction bridge R' Elchonon talks about in Ikvese Dmeshecha.

Hirshel Tzig - הירשל ציג said...

Snagville, I accept that challenge.

Tzig,
Congrats on actually finding one case of Lubavitch giving to others.Drimmer is a very fine and generous individual.
I do believe however that tzedaka and chesed is something that needs a li'l greasing so to speak by lubavitchers.

Hirshel Tzig - הירשל ציג said...

if you ask me, comparing the two groups when referring to Tzedokoh is like comparing apples to oranges for several reasons

I dont know how old you are? but thousand years ago there were jews like Gutnick,Drummer and Berel Wiess that were giving millions to non chabadniks.....

Hirshel,
Can you explain?
From my experience and talks with meshulochim about Crown Heights for example, Lubavitchers are not big gebbers .Mekurovim in early stages can give but once they become "ana"sh" it dries up , probably because of the talk in chabad about how great chabad is and how terrible misnagdim are.
Lubavitchers have somehow convinced or tried at least that they are peniless but there are many who are well to do.Yes, since Lubavitchers are into outreach they attract a lot of people who have various "issues" the stereotype is that they are a bunch of nebs, but it simply isn't true.Bichlal even to Chabad institutions the big gebbers are not "real" Lubavitch.See Leviev or George rohr or almost all the big donors.
Even when you do have a Lubavitcher that gives it is almost only to ana"sh.Even communal oraganizations like Hatzola get chai shpai.

Millions???
Ha,ha.
Nice joke.
The Romans also built bridges.
Question is for who?

Look at this link for example where Trigaboff who has been milked to many times told feldman yishakeini
http://www.chabad.info/index.php?url=article_en&id=27682.

For some reason you talk out of your m#%*la all the time. Why?

This is one Mhehalech that they dont give no tzedoka....

this is the 2nd Mehalech that they only give for themselves.. is this contradicting? or
I am a idiot???

It's all competition. JLI, which started off with the Shluchim Office (as Project Talmud) & then broke away & is now bigger than ever, just bought some buildings down the block from the S.O. on E. P. to create a new educational center. JLI is funded primarily by George Rohr. The S.O. needs to prove to the shuchim that it is doing something too. So they are willing to take money from anyone, even from... - even though R' Berel Shemtov is one of the best financially off shluchim out there.

BTW, with this whole סאטמאר–ליובאוויטש lovefest the last few years - has everyone forgotten that סאטמאר פראדוקטען are still in חרם since רז''ש דווארקין'ס days etc.? That anything that has a התאחדות שטעמפל is אסור צו אריינלייגען אין מויל - even if from Pomegranate? Since when is this no more applicable? (I heard that רי''ק מארלאוו said that since רז''ש made the פסק & is no more alive, we cannot be חוזר on it...)

Agav, there are Lubavitcher gvirim in Crown Heights, like ש''ב דריזין, but they are giving to the meshichists. So apparently, the anti-meshichist Shemtovs have be ''מקיים מש''נ: ''ממרחק יביא לחמו

Berel shemtov learned in sat mar as a child. He carried over a lot of Samar shtick into chabad. Maybe that's the connection.

IMHO it's a hollow ceremonial practice and might be considered Chukos Hagoy.
Supposedly Lub Rebbe was against placing mission statements in foundations for this reason.

Hafginu is sourced in Talmud (Rosh Hashana 19a and Taanis 18a).

Utilizing large areas as necessary is irrelevant.

before you pasken shalas look in famous Maharik on chukas hagoi.
Plus, I saw in seforim in the name of the Midrash that if you make hachnosas orchim then the Chut Hashoni turns white, thats the inyan of cutting the red ribbon, (source Minhag Yisroel torah)
