the original yom tov ehrilich song is amazing

Eish Kodesh said...

the song is a yomtov erlich song?
The strong fire of emuna and self sacrifice of these people, is beyond the comprehension of the ME generation.....

Its not opening for me.

there's no reason why it shouldn't open, even if you have a strong filter. Maybe try again?

It's a nice touch and I would have loved to have sat in a farbrengen with him. The morose part of me, however, can't also forget the geferleche number of chassidim that never made it and for whom Nissim weren't Poel. That's not a criticism of anyone, it had to be הסתר פנים but as a child of survivors, I'm affected. My father הכ’’מ also survived through Nissim, but I always also think of his cousin of the same ager, hiding similarly across the road but who was shot while hiding, and whom my father had to bury as a 10 year old. I took that cousin's name when I added a name to mine, before I got married.

did not the same happen in Mitzraim, where only a 5th survived and we had Nisim

i can't stop but think that he might be overdoing it a bit. what i mean to say is that he was probably the only one who went around bragging so much about what he did in Russia. i never heard of any other chossid who had such an obsession with telling the whole world what he had accomplished in Russia, no matter how great his mesiras nefesh was.. on second thought: he is "fort" a shemtov, they are known for such behavior.. i don't mean chas vesholom to downplay his great sacrifice for torah and yiddishkeit (ukvar yeduim divrei haryat"z zy"a about him, just bringing out a point..

What does ben-Zion Shenker have to do with it?

If you dont want to downplay, you just shut your mouth.....
Chazal say its a sin not to publicize Miracles of Hashem Yisborech.... I am not talking about the famous Rashba that the Rema quotes... but this is pirsum Haness...Your hate for a certain family gets you irational.

Far be it from me to correct R. Ben Tzion's Yiddish, but isn't it supposed to be
נסים האבען געשען?

האט איז לשון יחיד און האבען איז לשון רבים, ניין?

An Ailemesher said...

Actually, נסים זיינען געשען, since it's an intransitive verb, פועל עומד.

Hirshel Tzig - הירשל ציג said...

no, Ailimisher

נסים איז געשעהן would be correct, לדעתי

An Ailemesher said...

איז is singular and נסים is plural.

LFAN"D, the difference between "Nisim zaynen geshen" & "Nisim iz geshen" is al derech the difference between "Miracles had happened" & "Miracles did happen." They are both correct, but the former is a passive verb while the latter is an active one (& therefore, some might say, adds more punch) & sounds more colloquial.

Ironic that the oylem sings it as "Nisim iz geshen"...

The connection with Yom Tov Erlich may have to do with the fact that during the war RYTE wound up in Tashkent (or Samarkand?) un hot zich geriben mit anash, so maybe RBZSh met with him then, shortly before the time when this song seems to have been composed.

Perhaps one of Reb Bentche's eyniklach can chime in here & tell us what they know about this song?

IIRC one of the early color war songs (from the 1950s) of Camp Gan Israel Montreal was a variation of this song.

In my previous comment I meant to write "Nisim HOT geshen" - not "Nisim zaynen geshen."
