Jewish life Vilna - 1939

- In days gone by a carter such as this would've been reading a chapter of the Mishnah, today he reads a newspaper. -

By 1939 Vilna was mostly secular, as is evident from most of the people in the film, although the filmmaker was not religious. Talk of the "Jerusalem of Lithuania" was mostly nostalgic, as unfortunately most of Vilna was not studying the Talmud anymore.

In days gone by a Lubavitcher like this would've been reading the Tanya, today he reads the internet.

Aren't you proud of this 'Chasidishe' bochur?Puke.
You won't be discussing this because you don't have the guts to.
That's why I go to Crownheights.info to get real news.Your site is a silly, partisan smokescreen

That's why we say that חסידים זענען קלוג
so that geniuses like yourself will know to stay away. How many times have I said that this is not a news blog? Can you get it through your head?

in case you haven't noticed this thread is about Jewish life in Vilna, not Morristown. If you have something to tell me unrelated to the thread don't hesitate to send me an e-mail directly. The address is neveler@gmail.com
