Rabbi Hershel Schachter:Double Standards In Our Lives

Sidney asks for "context", so here goes nothing:

Rabbi Hershel Schachter is a Talmid of Rabbi Soloveitchik at YU, yes, but his general shiurim in Gemoroh are attended by Chasidishe as well as "Litvishe/Yeshivishe" Jews. The speech was at the Young Israel of Midwood, yes, but I believe that these speeches are usually advertised to the greater Flatbush/Midwood/Kensington public and are attended as such. As a matter of fact, judging from the "Torah'dige שפראך he uses I would say that there was a large/majority Charedi crowd in attendance.

None of what he says should come as a surprise to anyone, after all, Jews, and Charedi Jews, were and still are very prevalent in the Garment and Printing industries, and included in those are "obscene magazines" and "Pritzus'dige dresses". What more can I say?

I don't get it. What was he being m'chadesh? The yetzer horah is a known entity even by the modern Orthodox. People sin because they do. What did he want the listeners to do, think about Avrohom Avinu, before they act? as a preventitive measure. What are the standards for tznius that he is so worried about? Why did he think that these issues were relevant to this crowd? Who is the crowd he was addressing? I think context would help in this post.
