So we see two things from these anecdotes; 1) that
Daas Torah amohl was that you could tell even the
Posek Hador that what he's doing
shtimt nisht with what YOU think, maybe then - when he explained himself to you - did you accept his ways; and 2) that not every
Maamar Chazal that you learned in
cheder pertains to every situation, as we clearly see from RYES. Yes,
Reb Shua Leib and maybe the CI saw it that way, but others said we need him in the future, so we need to treat him with respect right now, otherwise he'll throw us לכל הרוחות when we come knocking on his door. אשרי הדור that has מנהיגים that follow in
Reb Yitzchok Elchonon's ways. But if you like, you can always not believe what
Rav Meskin writes here, that always seems to be an option with some people who disagree with what they read, even if it from giants like RYES.
