Obviously something like this would need alot more than just a link on a Friday in June, when the oylem is thinking about camp and country. I would also wonder why, if this was Reb Chaim's opinion all along, was he not mefarsem his opinion until asked about it now? And the cute thing is that he says something like "I heard others said this before me." Nice. But I guess sometimes אייגענע פניות come into the mix... The Belzers went on an all-out "blitz" right before they finished building their Beis HaMikodosh, fighting for the right to keep it round. Most of us couldn't figure out why, until they made their פרוכת with a B I G round menorah as the ONLY design/writing. At least they had the decency to defend their opinion in a Torah journal. They say in the Rebbe's name - after some people in Bnei Beraq opposed the Rebbe on Mihu Yehudi, that it's a mazel that he doesn't come out publicly in support of Shmiras Shabbos, otherwןse those same people would publicly denounce it and say that it's not a Mitzvah, r"l. והמ"י

Not sure what the tayna is - he wrote it in his sefer years ago! Braysa dimeleches hamishkan has been around forever. I see the 9th edition on Otzar Hachochma from 5759 and he has the note there on page 28. If anyone has an older edition of BDMHM I'd like to know how long this note has been in there, or If it's been there from the beginning. (Yitachen that he made this point even before RMMS...)

I'm not a lubabicher, but i think the rebbe was sincere with his opinion and shach was politics .
the NYTS on broadway used to archive old forwards and books from liberman, shulem alekim etc. i heard it burned down and i worried their apekorsis got lost ! looks like the chachmy america found some in their bubas shoe box and saved it to preserve yiddishkeit in america .

that this sefer of reb chaim is old, he printed it in his young age.

Reb Chaim was not mefarsem it this time either. He was asked and he answered and someone decided it is relevant enough to put up on the internet.

plus all the archaeological evidence says it was round. the people who SAW it at that time drew it with round branches. wouldnt it be easier to draw it with straight?
