I can't wait for all the MO/OO Rabbis who understand nothing without the subtitles trying to imitate this droshoh next year, in between the UJA Appeals (do they still do that) and the call to be more inclusive/allow more Women's participation/follow the ilks of the day. The Gaon Reb Yoshe Ber Soloveitchik of Boston speaks about the Alter Rebbe's mesiras nefesh for Chassidus. In an unusual outburst of emotion the Rov cries out about the harassment he gets in the secular press for standing up for Torah and Yiddishkeit. As opposed to Agudists. This seems to be at a  Mizrachi dinner or function of some sort. Just as the AR, and not his biological grandson Reb Burech'l Mezhibuzher, נ"ע, was the one who suffered for Toras Chassidus CHaBaD, "שהיא היא תורת הבעש"ט". I admittedly searched for the words that RYBS uses and could not find the exact quotes, but the gist of what he says is written in a letter published in אגרות קודש אדמו"ר הזקן, אגרת ס' עמוד קמ"א, which we attach here. It's possible that the letter is paraphrased elsewhere and that it is where the Rov took it from. Did Reb Burech'l say that Shitas CHaBaD was "Apikurses?" The Rov is clearly annoyed with Reb Burech'l.... The word Mezhibuzh is pushed out of his mouth, and he says that Reb Burech did not even understand the sichos chulin of "dem Alten Rebben!"

The next Brisker באלאגאן

RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL: 

Someone had the great idea of combining all of the chidushim on Maseches Sukkah from the various Brisker family members. However, he did two major aveiros, from a Brisker perspective:

 1. He brought chidushim from the American branch.

 2. He brought chidushim from AJ's talmidim -- they are extremely makpid about unofficial shiur transcript. I'm holding my breath until the first pashkevil. סוכת הלויים

At the dinner for the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in New York, 5702/1942: (l-r:) Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, Rabbi Shmaryahu Gurary The Rebbe Rayatz, נ"ע, The Rebbe זי"ע. The following three pages are his speech transcribed as it was said - in Yiddish. The Rebbe Rayatz was - you might say - an even bigger "fan" of the "Rav" than even the Rebbe was, and he pushed hard for RYDS to succeed his father Reb Moshe ben הגר"ח in RIETS.

A report in the Chabad publication "תולדות חב"ד בארצות הברית" about the dinner and Rav Soloveitchik's speech. (See last paragraph)
