Where's the prayer?

Believe me friends, it hurts me too. I shudder to think what'll happen if and when the Disengagement happens. However, I do wonder if we're not missing the point here.

Sharon is running the country like an absolute dictator, he could care less about what anybody thinks. His party votes against it, he doesn't care. The referendum would strike it down, he doesn't care. He's negotiating and unilaterally pulling out under fire, he doesn't care. It's a banana republic, friends.

I can understand the idea of trying to go in there and disrupt the police from trying to carry out the evictions, that's a practical and common sense plan of action, but what's with all this political activity? What can be accomplished?

There will be no vote, even amongst the party members, all votes are done in cabinet only. Everything is in place, ready to go, so there is no natural way out of this, so why all this demonstrating and marching? Where's the cry out to Hashem, the Kapitlech Tehillim?

Only "Thilim un Treren."

This is my opinion of the matzav:

Bibi is a fraud. He's an opportunist and a con-artists. He only cares about power, money and women - the Jewish version of Bill Clinton. Sharon is out to maintain the identity of Israel as a non-Torah Medina. Barak may be the straightest one of the bunch.

The difference is, that when Barak was in office at least the right wing opposed him, not so Sharon.
As for Bibi, the one mayla he has is that he's an economic capitalist instead of an economic socialist, but in Israel that is really not a primary concern of mine.

What I think needs to be understood about Sharon is that Israel is facing a struggle of identity. In about 25 years (birth rate, baalei teshuva) there will be as many Chareidim as their are Chilonim. This is a big deal to Chiloni Jews (i.e. Sharon), therefore, I think that is the primary war that Sharon is waging. The Arabs are a secondary concern

What's odd is that NK / Satmar have the same vision as Sharon, Barak, etc... It seems that the Zionists have joined Satmar... funny how that worked out. If they pull this off, there are surely plans for more strategic give-aways down the road... and at least part of Yerushalayim is on the list.

I think that the goal here is to break the back of the chareidim, and gain clout in the world.
Ultimately he can always take the land back if he wants, but in the meantime he gets to smack the chareidim around a bit, and send his message to the baalei teshuva shtochim dwellers that, no, Moshiach is not coming.

Sharon is a smart guy, and he knows that the chareidi groups are a bunch of prostitutes. He gives them a few bucks and they all fall in line. He despises them and laughs in their faces.
He knows that the Gush Katif plow and give away is in Tisha B'Av season. He has a sense of humur with his dislike of chareidim.

May he get what's coming to him, as they all eventually do...

didn't he already that by drastically cutting government handouts?

Is he biting his nose to spite his face?

Once you give you don't take back

PLEASE ADDRESS THE QUESTION!
I did not ask whether or not you agree with the disengagement plan, I asked "where's the prayer"?

Cutting benefits is only one method. You don't win a war with a single offensive.

If there is violence / unrest, he can explain that he was forced to retake the land. That's no big deal (and it's not like he realy wants the land)

I still think this theory makes the most sense when tryng to understand Sharon's actions.

"Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Haredi and National Religious rabbis are calling upon all Jews to take part in a mass prayer at the Western Wall Wednesday for the "nullification of the uprooting decree."

Former Ashkenazi and Sephardi Chief Rabbis Avraham Shapira and Mordechai Eliyahu, who have long led protests against the Gaza expulsion plan, will lead rabbis in a united call directed to the Heavens, rather than toward Israel's Knesset. Rabbis Shapira and Eliyahu will be joined by Shas Party Leader and former Sephardi Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef (pictured above), members of the Haredi-religious Council of Torah Sages, former MK Rabbi Menachem Porush and other prominent Hassidic rabbis.

The event has special significance in that it marks a rare uniting of leading, influential Rabbis from the Hareidi, Sephardic, and National Religious sectors together in one event.

At an emergency meeting that took place last week at his home, Rabbi Menachem Porush, a well-known Hareidi-religious leader and former member of Knesset, burst out in tears. The rabbi told those present that over the past 80 years of his life, he cannot remember a time where thousands of Jewish families were being expelled from their homes in such a manner, when 25 Jewish towns were set to be utterly destroyed, when the destruction of dozens of synagogues and houses of Torah study was to take place, as well as the desecration of Jewish graves. "Even in Russia it was not like this," he said.

"Our forefather Abraham asked for mercy on behalf of Sodom and Gemora, which were evil - appealing to G-d that there must be fifty..twenty..even ten righteous people living there," said Porush. "How much more so, when we have towns filled with Torah and yeshivas, with righteous Jews who fear Heaven, are we obligated to pray for them and for the nullification of the decree."

It was decided at the meeting to hold a mass prayer at the Western Wall as soon as possible.

Aside from the prayer rally, Rabbi Porush and Shas Party Chairman Eli Yishai agreed to coordinate activities against the Disengagement Plan from now on. One of the highlights of Wednesday's prayers will be the presence of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who will read Selichot (heavenly petitions for mercy) in the intonation and custom of Sephardic Jewry.

"I pray every day [for the nullification of the Disengagement Plan], but we need to have a mass prayer," Rabbi Yosef said in his weekly Saturday night address. "Even when the sharpened sword is resting on one's neck, one should not despair of Divine mercy."

The former Sephardic chief rabbi and Shas Party spiritual leader, considered one of the most prominent and influential rabbis alive, added, "It is obligatory on every person to take part in the prayer gathering on Wednesday."

The ceremony will begin at 6 PM. Organizers plan on distributing sack-cloth to worshippers "in order to symbolize the mourning that is resulting from the decision to expel Jews."

Residents of Gush Katif are not waiting for Wednesday for a mass prayer. They will gather at 6 PM on Tuesday evening in the courtyard of the Neve Dekalim synagogue. Participating in the prayer session will be Rabbi Avraham Shapira, Kiryat Arba Rabbi Dov Lior, Rabbi Yoram Aberjil of the "Rav Poalim" educational centers in Netivot, Beit El Yeshiva Head and Chief Rabbi Zalman Melamed, Kiryat Shemona Chief Rabbi Tzefania Drori, Tzfat Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, and others.

I commend and applaud those that do, but as a whole most of the action is on the political front.

it is very interesting that even Sharon did not do this evil thing at this time he will start after Sunday. Brothers we are all at risk! Some say that this blog thing has changed politics? The way it works is that the anti frum pay a little to brake up any sort of unity. That shows what they fear most.
