More of what Chabad shluchim did - and do - while you were asleep...

ידידנו ר' שניאור - (anybody see him lately?) once asked "when did Chabad become the Salvation Army, delivering meals to the homeless and needy after hurricanes or similar activities that they highlight in articles and videos? Truth is, I'm not sure when that happened, but this was somewhat different, you might say. This kid showed up on their doorstep and wouldn't leave. Still, it makes for a wonderful story and should be publicized. In times like these, when scandal is rife and all we see the dark side on an almost daily basis, it's nice to see stories such as these. And to those of you who have a problem with Lubavitch; try and bite your tongue. Maybe chesed organizations need to start working on their PR to the outside world, you know, get the message out, not so much for fundraising, but also for the greater good?

can anyone confirm if Shmuly Boteach (the former Chabad shliach from England) was honored at the SCHI dinner in Lakewood with all the Roshei yeshiva and rabonim on the dais?

funny how all the controversial Chabad articles get a load of comments immediately, while this one gets so very few, just saying...

To Anonymous... people are your mirror - if you find someone repulsive then you need to fix yourself up.

This story has all the makings of a classic Jewish work - covad ha brios, light unto the nations, kiddush Hashem. May Hashem grant the Lifshits family continued siyata d'shmaya in thier avodas hakodesh.

No he wasn't. What happened was that Cory Booker was honored. He gave a speech that was prepared by SB.

I could confirm that Boteach was NOT honored. He is good friends with Cory Booker (the mayor of Newark). Bookerspoke at the dinner and Boteach was therefore present on the dais for a few minutes while Booker spoke.

what if Cory Bookers friend and speech writer was a reform Rabbi or a priest ,would they allow him to sit on the dais with all the roshei yeshiva and rabbonim? but since his name is Shmuly Boteach who wrote 'Kosher Pig' hes different, he's special. he has a beard and likes speaking nivul peh on national TV. hes allowed!
