Say what you want about Reb Aron Teitelbaum, but when he wants to he knows to put people he disagrees with in their respective places. The examples here of that are almost too numerous to mention. You need to watch the whole clip. It's a kosher comedy. Some people are there but WE don't know why. Like, when did Reb Dovid Shustal become the פארזארגער of Klal Yisroel? Some are there and THEY don't know why. Like, Reb Mordche Duvid seems like he just now for the first time heard that there is an Israeli army. But they never expected the smackdown from the Satmar KJ Rebbe, that's for sure!

 לפני כשבועיים מת מאיר הר ציון, מהלוחמים הנועזים בתולדות צה"ל, ומי שדורות של צברים גדלו על סיפורי הגבורה שלו. אבל אני רוצה לספר לכם על מעריץ מעט מפתיע של החייל שהפך למיתוס ישראלי: האדמו"ר הנוכחי מסלונים. בצעירותי בישיבת "בית אברהם" של חסידי סלונים, סיפרו לא בחור אחד ולא שניים על כך שכאשר נכנסו לאדמו"ר, שהיה אז ראש הישיבה, והשיחו לפניו את קשייהם והתמודדויותיהם "בעבודת השם" ובלימוד התורה, הוא השיב להם בשאלה שהם בהחלט לא ציפו לה: "האם שמעת על מאיר הר ציון?"... - ומשענו לו בשלילה, הוא תיאר באוזניהם קטעים מספרו של הר ציון, "פרקי יומן", כהמחשה וכסמל לכוח רצון עיקש ולדבקות במשימה ללא פשרות, בבחינת "ממנו נקח לעבוד את ה'". ולמה אני מוצא לנכון לספר את זה עכשיו? לא רק בגלל העיתוי של מותו של מאיר הר ציון, אלא בעיקר בגלל שאני קורא עכשיו באתרים החרדיים על הצטרפותו של האדמו"ר למחנה הקיצוניים הקוראים שלא להתייצב כלל בלשכת הגיוס, גם לא לצורך קבלת הדיחוי. עכשיו אתם אולי מצפים ממני לאיזה הסבר אינטליגנטי, מה השתנה אצלו מאז ועד היום, אלו תהליכים עבר אולי האיש שהפך מנסיך מסתגר וחולמני למנהיג הקהילה, והאם בכלל יש סתירה בין הדברים או שמא קיים דווקא סוג של קו מחבר - משיכה לקיצוניות ולטהרנות. אז זהו, האמת היא שאין לי ממש הסבר כזה, מה גם שבשנים האחרונות אני פחות מחובר למתרחש בחצר. כמו שאומרים בפייסבוקית - אני רק מניח את זה כאן. תעשו עם זה מה שבא לכם. הנה הדיווח באתרים החרדיים, וגם תמונתו של האדמו"ר מהימים הרחוקים שבהם הוא קרא את "פרקי יומן" של מאיר הר ציון, ואני משער שגם ספרים אחרים.

I don't claim to understand Israeli politics. Never really did. As an American Jew I have a hard time understanding the Israeli Charedi mentality sometimes. I don't claim to know better, but I'm puzzled by what gets published in the frum press over there. I can understand that they're in a major bind over there - with mandatory military conscription making it impossible for most men to seek employment, but what I don't get is why they don't come out and say it! Say that you want to go to work but the Government won't allow you to. You hear it here and there from guys like Yisroel Eichler, but the Litvakkes make as if mamesh they all wanna learn in Kolel forever... But I gotta believe that when Gafni saw that Chabad shluchim would be recognized as having done שירות לאומי he blew a gasket. Here he is fighting the Government for months and months, and then these blasted Chabadskers go and pull the rug out from under him! Remember now; Moshe Gafni is an old Degel guy, brought to power by the late Ponovizher Rosh Yeshiva. He has no real love for us Chabadskers. We all and always knew they weren't חרדים. I couldn't even tell you if this was an officially-sanctioned idea, or whether it was a few politically connected guys in Chabad who came up with the idea and pushed it through. I don't even like it, truthfully; it seems like אני את נפשי הצלתי and everyone else can figure it out on their own...

 I'm not here to discuss the actual demonstration, or the content of the pashkevil you see here, which is just that, and unsigned figment of somebody's imagination. They want the Yeshivaleit to go, so they drag RAK into the conversation. Again we see how the zealots think they know better than the Rosh Yeshiva's children and talmidim. And I know this is old stuff, this style of writing, but I'm still baffled by it. What I want to discuss is, like, do they really think that a) people will burn the whole town down like some riot in the 60's? And b) do they really think that somebody in the איזראעלי Government will be threatened by this leaflet and change his mind about the plan to draft Yeshiva Bochurim/Yungeleit? 

So what gives?
