Nem vagyok magyar....
Reb Hirshel
I am a long-time reader of the blog. I'm very happy to see that you're continuing writing, despite the hardships involved. Might I share you with you something I found interesting. This Shabbos I fell upon a war memoir book, memories of Reb Yosef Meir Markowitz, a סופר סת"ם born in Makeve, a satmar chusid who went to the בעלזער רב and saw big מופתים. Very thick book, chock full of anecdotes, both pre war and and post war. He was with the klauzenburger ruv during the war and saw in him major גדלות. Now to the point: Of all people the chabadnik Reb Avrohom Mayorer (dba Drizin) popped in on him and checked him out and forced him to help קה"ת in the USA print ספרים in Munchen, Germany. He slept in his kitchen and said I can sleep on a bench I'm not a Hungarian....

Sruli Besser realizes his life-long dream...
.... Well, one of them, perhaps. Namely, to write about Zalman Levine. I have my theory as to why... I know it sounds like a strange dream, but hey! To each his own. If only I saw what the big fascination with them is. Seems like all those who have their issues with Lubavitch look to Zalman and his father to justify their qualms. Just look at the last paragraph... Angel. maMASH. But if it means that Lubavitch gets a little knock, why not? So... why is it that the son of the man who was SO HOLY and called all Litvaks Apikorsim and worse had a son who looked like a Slabodker Bochur?
We may never know. But do read it.

On the 16th of Tammuz, 50 years to the day of the passing of the Reb Avrohom Yehoshua Heschel of Kopysznic, zt"l, there was a Yohrtzeit seudah - as there is every year - at the inconspicuous shtiebel. I'd guess that many, mnay native Boro Parkers couldn't tell you where it is. Most people who attended didn't know that there would be a הכתרה. Some 42 years after the passing of his son (HaTomim) Reb Moshe Mordche, the shtiebel on 55th Street has a Rebbe again! Reb Zushe, second son of Reb Moshe Mordche, and a "yungerman" who's ראוי לאותו איצטלא. They say it was at the behest of their cousin, the mashpia Reb Nussy Gurary, son of Reb Zalman, who was married to Chava, daughter of RAYH. He got up and spoke and basically said that the time has come for Reb Zushe to accept the responsibility. He had been doing it in an unofficial capacity, but now it's signed and sealed. They say it'll be more אפטא than רוזשין. All that's left for us to say is:
יאריך ימים על ממלכתו
אחיו הצעיר ר' אברהם יהושע מנשק יד האדמו"ר
שני משמאל האח ר' אברהם יהושע
משוחח עם בן האדמו"ר מסקולען - המשפיע ר' נתן גו"א עליז אחרי ההכתרה

מימין האח ר' איטצי, ומשמאל בן דודו ר' נתן גורארי

The גיוס Circus 2017
Say what you want about Reb Aron Teitelbaum, but when he wants to he knows to put people he disagrees with in their respective places. The examples here of that are almost too numerous to mention. You need to watch the whole clip. It's a kosher comedy. Some people are there but WE don't know why. Like, when did Reb Dovid Shustal become the פארזארגער of Klal Yisroel? Some are there and THEY don't know why. Like, Reb Mordche Duvid seems like he just now for the first time heard that there is an Israeli army. But they never expected the smackdown from the Satmar KJ Rebbe, that's for sure!
This is how the sausage is made, we just never get to see it.

Maybe the electricity
Here's what we're speaking of. The electricity that they installed in Belz way back when. Basically Belz was a town like all others in Galicia. With their Mizrachisten and Tziyonisten. No different than Lubavitch and their problems back then, כידוע. A friend of the blog sent it in, and we thank him for that.

Hirshel:
It's 90 degrees outside and I talk about Chanukah. But today I saw a Reb Tzudek in רסיסי לילה - נ"ז - אות ו - in the new print - that Chanukah and the בית המקדש lights are to light up the dark alleys, which means the Gentiles. I guess he was a Lubavitcher too. But if we see these words as a metaphor for all year round, how it's our job to light up the dark alleys of גלות, maybe it's appropriate after all. Even in July. Especially in light of recent happenings in the Tri-State area. It may be a hard task, and maybe the odds are against us, but it's till our job. Despite all the prejudices.

3 minutes with Reb Yehoshua Schneur Zalman Serebryanski ע"ה
Reb Zalman was born in 1903 in Brahin, near Chernobyl, in White Russia. His father was Menachem Mendel and his mother was Nechama. His mother was the sister of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gluskin, a Chabad Rov in Paritch, Minsk and Leningrad. His father Reb Menachem Mendel was a chasidisher yid with a very warm heart. His kindness was known throughout the community, including Samarkand, where he lived until his passing in 1942.
In 1924 at the age of 20, his father suggested he go learn in the Lubavitcher yeshiva in Rostov. The Frierdiker Rebbe accepted Reb Zalman into the Yeshiva. In 1925 he attended the Frierdiker Rebbe’s Purim Farbrengen in Leningrad. It was there that he first saw the Rebbe. He was close to Rabbi Chatshe Feigin the yeshiva Mashpia. Eventually Reb Chatshe appointed him to work for him as his secretary and to administer several underground yeshivos.
In 1928 he married Brocha Futerfas, sister of Reb Hendel Lieberman and Reb Mendel Futerfas. During the 1930s the couple and their three children lived in Charkov. In 1938 he was conscripted into the Russian army. In 1941 he moved his family to Samarkand. In 1949, Reb Zalman and his family were sent by the Previous Rebbe to Melbourne, Australia.
Reb Zalman founded various Chabad institutions in Melbourne including a boys elementary and high school and Beis Rivka for girls. In 1967, he founded the Yeshiva Gedola, which is a thriving Lubavitcher yeshiva for students from across the globe. On Yud Shevat 1970, the Rebbe honored him with the recital of a פסוק in conjunction with the completion of Moshiach’s Sefer Torah. The Rebbe wrote that he gives him this honor because he is the Mashpia of Chasidus for Australia.
A few weeks before Gimmel Tammuz, 1991, Reb Zalman said that his Shlichus had ended, and indeed on Gimmel Tammuz 1991 his נשמה returned to its maker.

Full Story Here
This is too good to be true. Well, almost. But apparently it is. They brought in some policeman in a Yeshiva to lie to the masses. He did a number on them. Crocodile tears and all. Crying about 5 bochurim that were either forcefully or cunningly taken to the טמא'נער צה"ל. The problem is he's no Rosh Yeshiva, as they claimed he was. The Yeshiva exists, to some extent, but the bochurim are fictitious. I said my piece about the whole shindig. This just solidifies it.

(Youtube screen grab)
I spoke to a friend who spent time with Reb Fishele as a bochur. The man's father knew RFH from the Old Country. He always spoke very highly of him. I was the one who informed him on Motzoei Shabbos of the passing. His first words were: He was a Yid who never stopped bemoaning the fact that chibas Eretz Yisroel was torn from the fiber of Haredi society. then he went on to more traditional statements, like the fact that he knew all Sifrei Shu"T. Big gaon in Kabbalah as well. That he worked on all 40 Sifrei Rishonim that were published by the late Rabbi Chaim Moshe HaCohen Blau. Then he made a statement that most of you would not be כלים for, so I won't repeat it. I found it very telling. That a traditional Chassidic I suppose I should post this slready. It's been weeks. I can always add on later.
